Vintage all the way. A decent kit will age nicely if it's kept well and the sound definitely improves with age, something you don't get unless you go for top end newer stuff like Orange County.
I play a late 60's UK Rogers which is the best sounding kit I've ever played. I had it refinished in blue oyster pearl wrap and have standard 22, 16, 12 sizing. All hardware is new and a mix of Pearl and DW.
I use either a 1950's Ludwig Mahogany snare if I want something light and snappy, or a converted Premier marching snare in green sparkle finish, tuned really tight so it's got an amazing deep, tight crack to it. That baby's 9 inches deep ......
Cymbals are 13" Sabian HH EQ Hats, 16" Alchemy Sweet Crash, 16" Zildjian A Custom Crash and a juicy 20" Sabian Medium Flange Ride from the 70's.
Has taken me 20 years to get that lot together and I love it all.

If it was £175 then I'd snap it up.
When I put this up on the forum in the Summer I was looking for £225-250 for the frame, fork and front wheel, I know this is a lot, but it's a nice frame and I paid more than this. On the other hand I'm realistic and realise it's unrealistic I'm going to get this for it, so ball park I was thinking £200ish. What do you think?

I recently Knocked these up, haven't had a chance to test them out yet, but they certainly won't cut your foot in two, they're hella beefy. Just need some washers yet to strengthen the holes a little, although it's pretty damn strong seat belt with holes melted through to seal the fibres.
These are pretty much what I've just added to the polo bike, except I went for leather.
I found that using a little bit extra length meant I could bolt through both the holes you usually use for the cages, on both sides of the pedal (4 bolts per pedal), for extra strength.
Have had no problems so far and I've been really going for it at polo.
I'll try and post pics sometime.

And the rules say .....intentional ramming or t-boning and unsportsmanlike play is seriously fuckin frowned upon.
If I was reffing I'd have called a no goal for the intentional ram. No attempt was made to play the ball and the offensive player intentionally rammed the defensive player to gain an advantage for his team. Might be contentious but it's not in the spirit of the game we play here.
But as I wasn't reffing I'd have to say I concur with Max, it was pretty awesome!
