I spent 4 weeks off the bike over Christmas whilst out of the country and my knee pain disappeared. One round trip commute (22 miles) was all it took for it to come back as bad as before.
So I have done the sensible thing and went to GP who has referred me to a surgeon so they can decide what needs to be done.
Thankfully GP made no mention of cutting back on cycling - would have ignored him anyway, but he did not seem to think continuing to commute would make much difference.
He did ask a couple of possibly interesting questions: what type of bike - ie. does it have suspension?
Made me think that this might be caused more by running tyres at 120psi and perhaps extension of knee joint due to saddle height could be a factor? Maybe even frame material - as I mainly commute on aluminium.
Justification for a new bike if there ever was!

Ditto that.
Got this awesome swiss army knife for my tenth birthday from a relative. My mum was none too chuffed. I promptly displayed my prowess and how I could easily be trusted by snapping it shut on my thumb leaving me with a scar today some fifteen years later from the tip down to the joint.
Much blood and shrieking later and she'd finally calmed down.
I tried to hide the wound by putting my hand in my pocket....I think it made my mum's shock worse when she saw me saunter past with one leg of my jeans soaked in blood pretending all was right with the world.

Cracker for me today...really stupid and lucky to be unharmed.
About 20 miles in to an easyish ride (week off) I absent mindedly reached down for a water bottle.
Only problem is that I reached past the bottle, past the downtube and fed my fingers into the spokes of my front wheel. As I was doing about 18-20 at the time the spokes were moving too fast to let my fingers through.
Lucky really. I guess if I was riding slower I could have lost some fingers. Especially as I have bladed spokes on my front...
Dumb arse......almost as silly as shutting your finger in a swiss army knife.....but then I was 10 when I did that and not 29!

I had a pair of them a couple of years back. Not great for commuting, no flashing mode & no side visibility. very fiddly to take on and off the bike and not very robust - lasted less than a year before I got my money back through Wiggle.
Until recently I ran two of these and was much happier with them
