Does anyone want to arrange to meet-up for the ride in? I'll be coming in from Herne Hill/Brixton, leaving around 09.30 I guess? I'll probably be on the geared bike since the layer of dust its sporting means its overdue for some use...
Should have checked out the forum a little sooner this weekend! I'll be coming from HH - reckon I'll head up Brixton Road towards the river and then over Lambeth Bridge and up Whitehall... hopefully see you on the way! On a black track bike with green bar tape.

This is such a nice idea - haven't met anyone from the forum yet. Looking forward to it.

RIP this is awful news, when will these HGV related deaths stop! I mean seriously, what can we do to help prevent this happening to more cyclists, maybe this isn't the place to bring this up, but i'm getting more and more angry and frustrated about all these seemingly preventable deaths that keep involving HGVS!
+1
I don't understand why the frequency of these awful accidents isn't being picked up by the national media/high profile politicians at this point. RIP.

what i do is i write to my mp asking for safer streets / safer community etc.
it does make me feel a little better. like i am doing something. rather than doing nothing.
Somebody's point is a really good one - particularly people who live in the Camberwell and Peckham constituency (Harriet Harman MP).
There was a Bike Show podcast a while back about how the GLA are trying to tackle the HGV vs. cyclist issue, but clearly things are not moving fast enough...the more pressure we can put on our politicians about this, the better.

I'm going to watch Paris Roubaix this year, and have decided to take the bike as renting a car is just nuts expensive. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and has any good tips of where to catch the race, logistics, recommendations... have found a few bits and bobs Googling around, but I don't really have much of a plan except buy L'Equipe on the day and try and end up at Le Carrefour de L'Arbre/Arenberg Forest...

Thanks so much Clefty and Miss Socks for sorting out - I shall sport the spoke card with pride.
Definitely up for something longer and slightly pacier next time - and sorry I had to skip out on the beers after.
