we used to have a few cheese competitions, they were fun, a charcuterie one would be quite fun though i should imagine it would be rather 'elitist' as there seem to be a fair amount of vegetarians.......

I love Jamon Iberico de Bellota. Palleta is cheaper than the leg and just as good IMO.
Check out the producers Joselito - softer, pinker colour, exquisitely soft. My favourite is Maldonado, darker, richer and the best friggin fat in the world.

When I took Emma to Madrid, I wanted to get a huge leg of serano ham but they were stupidly expensive, I'm guessing though that's tourist prices, maybe from a traditional delicatessen over there it would be much cheaper.....
