I was involved in organising a triathlon with my club Crystal Palace, and I think the advice was that single speed was o.k, but fixed, with any element of a decent desent, and curves, was dangerous for the rider himself, and for the other competitors.
Going out on the fixed with the tri club rides is a wild experience, as the free wheeled and geared colleagues have no idea what it is like to have someone cut in front on a twisty down hill, or undertaking at a roundabout.

Cheers, all. I do suspect that the intake of alcohol played a part in some of the pictures. The really funky ones in Tron Broadgate, were after the charming young lady photographer (sorry, memory name fail), showed me how to turn off the flash.
It has been said before, but deserves repeating, that the whole event was a credit to the forum and the organisers, in making it such an inspiring night.
The ones with people either laughing or looking scared, were where I was shooting whilst riding, and just about to plough into tourist pedestrians, who were wandering around at the time. Fluff, if you are at South Drinks tomorrow, I have a micro present for your efforts in getting the shots out to the crew.

I passed over CD's with my pictures from the ride at South Drinks on Monday evening, to two savvy computer gurus, to load the details up on to the forum.
However, something about the excessive Guinness, has left me with only hazy recollections of who were the lucky recipients. Can you confirm that you have the discs, and when the pictures are up, where they are posted?

Mandy. come down to one of the drinks, say Souths tonight, to get a better picture of the people on the forum.
I do not want to be nice to the old crusties ("Ayee remember the good old days, when there were only twenty couriers on the forum...ahhh, (sigh)... look what has happened to the world.." but they really are a very pleasant, generous crew, when away from their computers, and actually interacting with people, rather than hurling abuse from behind their screens.
A bit like Range Rover drivers, really......

Iam still fired up following the London Lights trip on Thursday, and would like to make a suggestion.
The Longest Day is in the middle of June, so how about the following;
The four points of the compass of London, mob up at say 12 mighnight at their local watering hole, on the Friday night closest to the Longest Day.
The South, West, North and Easties, then converge on the Brick Lane polo court, and have half an hour of banter, puncture repairs, and chain tightening.
Then each group is sent to the hightest point on one of the other "manors" to watch the first rays of the sun come up over London.
When sun sighted, each group then makes it back to Brick Lane and the obligatory bagel. I was thinking of suggesting that this did not become a race, given health and safety, and the lack of competitive instinct amongst the forum, but maybe that is a waste of time?
A few ideas why this might work
Allows for more than 50, as effectively 4 groups
Allows people to see a corner of London, which they may not know. Each "quarter" would be reliant on route knowledge and location information from the locals.
Marks the middle of the year, and if it was a quarter as good as London Lights, it would be a roaring success.
Over to you, forum.

Just copied my pictures onto CDs so will be bringing them to South Drinks tomorrow night. If anyone has a computer with them, then the whole crew can "Ohh" and "Ahh" at my lack of photogaphic skills, before passing them on to someone with the requisite savvy to make them available to the whole forum.

Sorry to say it, with the festive season in full swing, but alcohol can aggrevate the injury if you have a tendancy to uric acid and the gouty grind paste crystals in the joint. This can inflame the soft tissue in the knee and impeed recovery. Gallons of water, rest and TLC are the best.
Being driven to go back training too early is natural, but utterly counter productive; you are dismantling all the recovery that has been achieved.
Apologies Bonk, I misjudged you. I can imagine the torn emotions of the boys involved. 6 months of fighting the machine, to get some semblance of justice, or just shrug and roll away, writing the whole thing off to experience, and wondering what lasting damage could be done by pursuing the injustice. More questions than answers, I am afraid.
