Good man Ben631 for putting your point of view. If any other section of the community
Black
Gay
MuslimWere treated with such rabid generalisations as the Police on this forum, there would be uproar. There are good and bad in any section of society, and most of the Police officers I know are there for the finest of reasons and are not corrupt, power crazed morons.
The original post is about a copper doing what we want him to do, in a thoughtful and considerate manner. What more to they have to do to get people to recognise the reality of their job rather than getting tied up in the semantics of the law?

@VeeVee. I will be there at 8, if that is any good for a burger buddy.
If He can do the loaves and fishes, surely getting out of work on time should not be such a trial?
-
I will be doing my Bob the Builder impressions on Saturday morning, so will be ready to take a pint or three come 2 pm. Will head to Vauxhall, then O'Neills Cannon Street, and then work the A to Z from there to have a peak at some of the suggestions.
All wecome to join if you can make it, and will report back to our illustrious leaders with an update.
PM me some time today, late tonight, if you are coming along, so I do not gallop off and leave you all lonesome. I have put my contact details on the Private thread.
Yours in thirst.

@Jonny, happy to roll out on Saturday as suggested, and report back to you with findings, but captured for next Thursday. Is that O.K. or am I adding an unwelcome complexity to the proceedings?
Also, may we worth seeing what it is like doing the ride, at about the same time as we are thinking for the actual event. This is your baby, of course, so you have the final say.
-
In relation to a reccie ride, I am around this Saturday. Maybe a warm up pint in Vauxhall at 2, and then across Lambeth Bridge to O'Neills so we can check out the all day breakfast.
I can have a word with my contact in County Kilburn, and see if he will entertain us, or feed us to the travelling people.
Also, Brian M (my contact) may be able to put us in touch with his contact at Guinness, as an event t-shirt would be something to behold.

Gentlemen
Some updates. The O'Neills in Cannon Street (well top of Queen Street, above Lambeth Bridge) is open 12 noon to 8 in the evening on a Saturday, and does a knock out all day breakfast. Maybe this would be a good starting point to ensure that everyone has fully lined the tummies before we get the party started.
Also, I have a contact up in Kilburn who owns a couple of boozers by the Tricycle Theatre. He is a cyclist as well, and may be inclined to make us particularly welcome.
I have not got along to the posh joint in Mayfair (name escapes me) but will try to get there next week.
Happy to join in with a reccie ride; have you any tentative plans for date and time?
And, at the risk of sounding like a boring auntie, can we cap the event at 4 venues, and make it an obligation that it is one pint of porter, one pint of water? I hate to think of the fall out we would get if there was a major drama during the day, and this information is accessable to the general public, and other authorites who could have a point of view?
Maybe we should move to the privates thread before the final timetable and venues are confirmed?
Yours, in paranoia.

Well done jonny and Adoubletap for sorting another monster day at the C&H and a chance to meet up with so many of the legends from the forum.
Miss Socks; thanks for giving me back the lo-pro. The rest of the crew were winding me up something rotten when you rode off into the sunset with a wicked smile in place.
Also, apologies to any peeps I did not bid farewell to as I rushed away; was due home and trip to the theatre... and sober. Well, one out of two is not so bad?

If it is open at the weekend, the O'Neills on Canon Street, has a superb pint, and really good monster all day fry up.
Also all those who have tried the pint at Saaf London's famous Coach and Horses, will surely vote for our beloved local, but maybe too far to travel for the other metropolitans?
Mulligans in Mayfair is an excellent location, but may not take kindly to a pile of cyclists thundering in, and not ordering a dozen oysters each. Will be close by during the week, so will check out the lie of the land; purely for the betterment of you lot, of course. . . . .

Well worth sending a polite e mail to the club secretary, whose details should be on the club web site.
My tri club take a really dim view of members winding up other road users, especially recreational cyclists. I even have to wear a helmet and not RLJ (not that I ever would, of course) when in club colours, just in case someone contacts the club.
Shame that our web site is emblazoned across the top of our arses, so an irate BMW driver can immediately send an e mail from their Blackberry.

@Clefty, thanks for the clever route and blast back to base. Souths really is such a great evening.
@Jimbilly, we missed you young man, but will appreciate the banter all the more when you return.
-
Dear Blue
Eyes peeled.
I will probably take the beer and ring side seats, rather than the other treats on offer, should I be fortunate enough to counsel the young unfortunate, whose problematic upbringing forced him inevitably into a life of crime.
Good luck with the search. Can you post a picture; really does help in spotting the offender.

@Pistanator; give me a call if you want to borrow the Bowery as I will be on the Moser. Number on the private thread.
