instead of reporting Boonen coke scandal (this morning BBC Breakfast). why can't the british press fucking report some positives for pro cycling.. lets see how many broadsheets, tabloids, Andrew Marr mention the Giro, Cav and the Columbia-Highroad TTT success in the morning..
have many stage wins did Cav get last year in the TDF??

hold a huge summer party, everyone selling bikes and parts, get all the usual shops like BLB to provide free services etc.. also BBQ, international food stalls, bike polo, a street keirin.. somewhere east london.. also a treasure hunt across the city.. all with an entry fee, charge professionals for stalls.. somewhere enclosed and hopefully free to hire for the day..
find venue preferably somewhere abandoned or try local school (playground), get a dozen people involved, choose a sunday in the summer.. post notices for help.. announce it on the forum.. its a community project proceeds go to LFGSS..

VB you have alot of loyal friends and supporters.. you don't have to justify anything, stick with your original plan.. I work for a smaller and smaller wage it seems.. some people do not appreciate the commitment or effort it takes to make things happen. I am talking about the hours spent each day, week month, add it all up VB you will be shocked. No one in their right mind, if they cared about you and this forum, should let you struggle.. you are not re-writing law or rules here, but a concise and frankly honest effort called a business plan.. we should all see that your survival/sanity and keeping LFGSS alive means we all need to contribute a small fee.. fuck the ideology we live in the real world.. ain't nothing free where i come from.. keeping the spirit and free thinking alive is paramount, don't let the doomengers fuck it over and turn this into something it ain't or shouldn't be..

I think secretly, VB wants out.. so we all pay (sort of anti-ransom) and keep him tied to the server indefinately, no trips to paris with girlfriend, the forum can't survive without them, he might do a runner.. we have become addicted to the forum, my wife says so.. he's dealing in our dreams and emotions, we need to feed this habit, get our fix..
jeez, i've turned into Skullz' avatar..

I love the Rouleur concept, now that is what bikes and people should be about..
Nick Livesey co-founder Fireflies produce an interesting book this year titled Mountain/Machine in association with Rapha.. using a pin-hole camera with images of the alps, riders and medical references. whilst it was a worthy effort, it did lack text, and probably means more to us riders and sponsors and cancer patients (for the fundraising) than the outside world.
Also, there was a great picture book published in South Africa titled 'a day in the life' no commentary. this is an every 10 year event, with a chronological time span in one given day from dawn to dusk.. another great concept, covering all walks of life and full spectrum of backgrounds.
This forum has some legendary threads, be sure to include those classic ones, a book like this could end up on alot of people's (christmas wish-list) and include loads of urban landscapy scenes preferably in black and white to get some scale of our fine city.. You could end up with a bigger picture library than Getty Images.. now that would be worth something.
I'm in for £40 hardback, minimum 200 pages please, signed by VB and co..

I sent Armstrong a twit-er recently saying that if he didn't make it to the TDF or clear his name over the showergate saga, that he joins the LFGSS and a coupla night time rides a bit of bike polo and perhaps feel human again..
I'm sure we could make him feel welcome here and stop him relying on Leipheimer giving Livestrong profile.. I am intrigued to see how Armstrong gets on in the Giro, recovering from injury and modest placing in the ATOC..
Astana are not in good shape are they?

as a fellow gooner, i am not surprised at tonight's result. but then again nothing gets me down, except perhaps chelsea getting to the final, winning the final and living with thought that i will not hear the end of it for some time..
i hope drogba gets seriously fouled in the penalty area tomorrow night, booked or even sent off for diving and Barca, score an away goal.. there i've said.. not bitter or anything.. really
man utd played efficiently and with great skill, we need experienced players as well as talent..
hopefully sell Adebayor (lazy fuck-shit), Gallas (prefer toure), Eboue (have we ever forgiven him) fuck there are others on my list.. has Senderos gone yet.. -
V - I agree and I like your suggestions for:-
Registered/Nursery, as current = no PM, no thread starting, etc.
Regular, slightly less than current = no classifieds thread starting, no group creation, limited PMs, etc.
Donor = Everything and more... £3 per year (a beer a year).hey, maybe throw-in some fines for the hell of it too..
On the competition front, raise monies and awareness for local charity or community related stuff as opposed to prize money for individuals..
I don't need that kinda motivation to subscribe.. would be a cool gesture to give something.. as opposed to receiving, that is.
Or throw an annual blow-out party with the proceeds for all members..
keep it rolling V

we are lucky that the police don't confiscate our bikes, crush 'em and send them back to us in the post.. some police states use to do that on the continent, i think it was scooters in Amsterdam.. I might suggest that to Boris when I see him next.. peace

Guys and Girls,
if anyone wants to handle my balls, come and play touch rugby for a couple of hours, not full contact.. unless you really want to, it can get a little bit intimate.. then off to edinboro castle afterwards with the softball crowds..
let me know anyone welcome, we (architectural community) meet every Tuesday weather permitting.. tournament planned in East London thi summer..

definately worth searching a bit more, there must be loads of great deals.. I agree with going with a good bike builder like Condor, avoid Cycle Sugery, Evans etc. really not worth it. Looking at offers and reviews in Cycling Weekly (CW) recently.. currently Boardman and Ribble have my vote. But these choices are very personal and it is vital that you should get properly fitted, spend time out of town and road test if you are spending good money, for the best investment.
Remember to get a good bike that fits not a great bike that doesn't, cos you will feel it on a longer ride +60 miles. That's why you are buying gears right?
Last week's CW is a good read, see if you can get a copy.
peace Al

If it happens with alarming frequency, you should by now have got used to it. It is unlikely to change, so adapt your riding style accordingly. See my previous post.
There is no way you can predict a bus letting passengers off when not at a bus stop, what if the bus has overtaken you already.. and you find yourself nearside when you catch up?.. especially those fcuked up bendy buses who can't get closer than four feet to a kerb.
-
I think we all agree that this cyclist took a stupid, unnecessary risk and a horrible decision to ride away, maybe took off through shock (not condoning his actions), but recently
a taxi stops in traffic four feet from the kerb, and the passenger gets out suddenly on the nearside where a cycle lane is clearly marked and knocks me for six.. i really feel it.. luckily no real damage to me or bike.. I wasn't and still don't wear a helmet around town.. what can i say, did the driver not have time to see me, and warn his passenger? was i travelling too fast? i reckon the passenger said to the driver 'I'll get out here thanks'.. doors unlock, click, bang..
It is tough, we all have to assess every encounter on the road as potentially dangerous, as motorcyclists are trained to observe and avoid unnecessary risk taking.
