Thankfully only internal decoration, but seriously can I catch a break now pls
I don't know if it's any use but we've just had to serve a S20 on our residents (we're a RTM Company) and some of them are in the process of selling. As such we've made a commitment that the S20 funds will come out of the sinking fund and if there's any chance we'll go over it (thus necessitiating an extra payment from residents) we'll simply reduce the scope. It may be something your managing agents / RTM co are willing to do if you have a sinking fund.

Just instructed Stow Brothers to put our flat on the market, and put in a bid in for a Warner near us. I am utterly excited and terrified.
I know this isn't really what we do On Here but I wanted to say thanks to everyone who's helped me out on this thread - @jakemcree, @duncs, @stevo_com, @Tenderloin, @Howard, and loads more. I don't really come from a background of people who own homes, we're more council types, and there's so much to learn about homeowning that it can be utterly intimidating. Having a thread full of people who've been through this before, who are willing to share their knowledge, has made me feel so much less like a deer in the headlights than I otherwise would. I genuinely don't think I'd have ever owned my place if it weren't for this thread. LFGSS is a life-enhancing resource full of amazing people.

I'm saying the socialist group of MPs don't have the numbers to trigger a coup and that's the only reason they don't do it. With respect I think that's pretty clear and it feels like you're just trying to pick a fight with me by deliberately misunderstanding what I'm saying. I've not said anything about the job Keir is doing, but clearly I'm disappointed by it. My point is that the socialist campaign group of MPs simply aren't numerous enough to trigger a coup and it's this which stays their hand, not anything else. Factionalism is a two way street.

Gotta say thanks to everyone who OKed the Genelecs - I'm amazed by the clarity and soundstage of them, they're the nicest monitors I've ever used and that includes in big studios. Surprised by how robust the sub sounds too - it doesn't sound artificially inflated but there's enough there for me to be able to manage sub well enough if I need to before taking it to bigger speakers. I was listening to some old rnb and Rage Against The Machine and you can litearlly hear every vocal/guitar overdub, and where it's placed in the mix. Amazing. Wish I hadn't waited so long to pick up a pair.

I think you might be. The party leader has control over which MPs; the NEC has control over party members.
As far as I know the party members named in that report were seeking legal redress from Labour as a result of having their private communications leaked and it was this that compensation was paid.
At no point were they booted from the party, and if they were it would've been the NEC's decision to kick them out and let hem back in, not Starmers.

It's a bit sad that those who complained about the negative briefing against Corbyn are now happily doing the same against Starmer.
I think it's really good, if only so that people really recognise that self-defeating factionalism is not just a game that Blairites play - it's as much a part of Labour culture as self-loathing is to English culture, and every faction plays it. I think there are people who genuinely think that its only one side which indulges in it. Every time Abbott puts stuff like this out, it's more obvious that's not the case.

No. All the houses round here have names and I don't think any of them come up.
Here's a hack to get the name in the royal mail database if you want it - order a new broadband service to your house specifying the name of the house. If you're ordering through an Openreach-based ISP (which is most of them), the ISP will send your house name to Openreach who'll send it to Post Office, and add it as a record at the point of installation. After a few weeks it'll show up on PAF (which is the post office database which drives most internet searches) and then propagate out into Ordinance Survey etc.

Amazing, thank you @Regal, @Airhead, @paradroid and @EB - I have ordered a pair of 8020s. Appreciate the advice.

Sorry another boring monitor question. In addition to picking up some proper mixing headphones I also want to upgrade my monitor situation
I need clarity and not an enormous amount of sub bass (I make sparse, ambient, piano led music) from small monitors. However I've been burned by small monitors in the past. Are Genelec 8020s big enough to use as main monitors or am I on a hiding to nothing trying it?

"Oh how many times must the electorate / reject our 2017 manifesto?
How often must voters doors be slammed / and doorwalkers eat their lunch al fresco?
How many times must Labour get spanked / before we get our risorgimento?Owen Jones reckons the answer is not 'three'
The answer is apparently 'not three'" -

Isn't that also 70% of the content of this thread?
Is this a helpful comment, croft? Does it foster a feeling of brotherhood and cordiality throughout the thread? Are you adding to the sum total of understanding in the world with it? Oh croft. Are we so different, you and I? Why can't we all just get along?
Also glad to see Starmer finally being a bit bolder with vision. (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/may/16/keir-starmer-vows-all-new-labour-manifesto-and-economic-offer)
I was offering fairly unqualified support to Starmer in order to give him a chance to deliver on his strategy, but if Hartlepool tells us anything it's that that strategy isn't fucking well working, is it, and we need a new approach.
Personally I'd like to see something more explicitly prepared to call out the impact of Brexit - we don't have to go full remain/rejoin but I think it's a dereliction of duty not to mention the way NI and SMEs have been thrown to the wolves. But I don't really care about direction as long as it's credible and likely to win us some elections. This socially right / economically left stuff is just not working.

That sounds great to me. Lovely sense of clean space in the percussion.
I think my prob with HD25s is that they're DJ headphones - brilliant at keeping external noise out but they're not comfortable for long sessions, make your ears sweaty, and are a little undetailed. Don't get me wrong, I know people who've made entire records using nothing but them and they sound great, but I want to hear proper detail.
-
Thank you, and @Gewürzt - I'll pick up a pair in that case. I don't know if I've got the juice to run the 600 ohm version but I know the 250 ohm version plays OK with my Apollo Twin X.
I'm currently using a pair of HD25s. I cannot wait to have a proper pair of mixing headphones, no idea why it's taken me so long.

Great piece in the EConomist today about the fracturing of Labour's voter base.

And around there, it's not your main point, but it's hard to pin down your main point when it's generally an anti union one whilst saying you're not anti union and mainly arguing against the leader of one union.
I want a new model for Labour funding. Sorry if that wasn't clear but that's what I'm referring to.

Well that happened fast as hell- our offer just got accepted on a Warner in E10. I've not even viewed the place yet. yikes.jpg
Is Gold Crest still the Forum Approved Surveyor or are there others in Walthamstow / Leyton that I should be looking at?
