SSTC "The Five Witches"
Sunday 16th May
Meet at Waterloo 09.30 for the 09.57
**Groupsaves for the win, last chance to buy one is probably 09.45 with all the fucking around and queueing then getting on and off the platform. so. yes. 09.45 if you're training it. if you want to ride it, be at Effingham for 10.30. **http://www.bikemap.net/route/476160. 40 miler. hoping for about 2 and a bit hours.
usual thing, up a hill, down a hill, rolling, countryside, decent paced, more about getting out and about, not stopping for a fag at the top of every hill. courier bags optional.
push yourself around, count the pedalstrokes, think you've fucked it up, get to the top, breathe out, don't stop pedaling, look around, realize that you're alive and the world is wonderful, look up the road and see more of the hill.so to keep things organized, two lists, one for riding out, one for the train.
if you think, "ooh i'd like to do this, but on saturday", do it on saturday. don't clutter the list up.alright then. pub at the end for those that want a beer or a coffee. or even a monster brunch.

Nope! It's a new one, a bit harder...a bit longer... :)
Reminds me of the joke where the teacher tries to teach about ambiguity:
Teacher: So what is standing on the field in the countryside eating grass?
Pupil: A cow!
Teacher: Yes, but it would also apply to a horse.
Pupil: I see! But what is long and stiff when it goes into ones mouth, but flappy, wet and soft when it comes out and you're done with it?
Teacher slaps him and shouts: You swine!
Pupil grins and says: Yeah, but the same goes for a chewing gum.Sorry, that was a horrible one.

fewer requests is always a good thing.
Sprites, concat and minification ... you should be able to end up with minimum amount of files really. As to how that translates to screen real estate is obviously a completely different thing and more of a design issue.
On smaller devices I don't think a mobile theme would be too bad as long as it would lave the original functionality available. Then again on my n900 I just zoom in and it's quite good really. -
Velocio, maybe that's why I prefer the website to an app or mobile theme?
Truth is that most apps offer a limited subset of what the websites already offer, and I think that is the browsers on mobile devices were more capable (the n900 is a step in the right direction), dedicated weren't needed.
But then again they're a great way to impose stuff on people, see the apple app SDK and flash war, the ever changing terms and conditions to develop for the platform, etc.
Apps ... I hate them so much that I cannot bring myself to use that iShite stuff.
My next machine won't be Apple anymore, that's for sure. -

better to hope it won't be necessary, if not pascalo can get the cough....
The cough has become a fully grown man flu now. Hope the fever will wear off until the sunday Audax :(
But do you know who I blame? I blame the train company for not heating enough! And my current workplace, for the lack of "climate control".
As for cold feet: How about some sealskinz. They're pretty toasty, especially when doubled up with some other socks inside.
-
I've got a cough hanging around too, most irritating :(
And regarding my constant abuse of an automobile for a to b journeying, I think the distinction between "riding out" and "meet at the station" is a valid one to make - if I was riding out I would want to know if other people were too to get a group together etc.
(and who knows, maybe if I was driving out I could give somebody a lift if they lived en-route. It's a hard life being trapped in the suburbs)So we need a third bullet point then? "Meet you at the station".
Sorry, I am german and have to categorize things :(
-
Marco, you crack me up ... But I agree, if you got nothing to say about this ride, or you want to ride the same thing but on a different day with different people and a maybe even a different mode of transport or something like that, why not make your own thread instead of messing with this list?
We didn't really get that cold on monday, did we? Why do I have the coughs now?
6pt ... you'd be driving it out there again? Maybe we should rename "riding out" into "meet at the station"?

The best custom Pegorettis have always been made of 4 ingredients: Dario's vast experience, his tape measure, the 3 questions he'll ask you, and your silence.
Yeah, that's what the enigma guys did: Ask a couple of questions, let me test ride whether I preferred steel or titanium, campag or shimano, measure me up, let me choose color, and when I came back from holidays I collected my bike.
Even the gear choice of a compact double instead of a triple seems to have been the right one now that I am a bit stronger, even though I doubted it at times.
