I am really impressed with what I have seen and heard - such a shame I couldn't make it :(
basically +1 on what everyone has said - that wall looked amazing and I think the idea of getting across to the industry the size and power of the forum is great and seems to have been very well recognised by the media coverage (thanks in no small part to that photo wall drawing people in from what I can gather)

Looks like the hotlines show got busted into last night - lots of high end kit gone:
"Hotlines Show in Brick Lane, East London, was busted into last night. Stolen:- Nukeproof Scalp DH bike, yellow with green proto Marzocchi 888 forks, and a whole heap of Lapierre's"
http://shedfire.posterous.com/hotline-show-break-in
4 Lapierre bikes, 1 Ghost a Lynskey Ti frame and the new Nukeproof Scalp DH Bike. All unique to UK gone apparently - the nukeproof dh bike is one of 2 in the world apparently...

Nothing like a long stint in the loo with some tool porn. The Japanese handtool section in the axminster catalogue does it for me every time... I need to tap the mudguard eyes on an old steel viking. The bolts for the mudguards are m4. Would the best thing be to swap them for m5 bolts and widen the eyes by drilling them out and taping them afresh?
Pah, I see your Axminster catalogue and raise you a Dick (snigger) tools one: http://www.mehr-als-werkzeug.de/page/homepage/detail.jsf

a greyhound - navy blue cordura outer, white inner with red webbing/edging :)
@Crumb - glad to hear it :)

David Baker should also be on here really, as he had even better national success than Tim.
He was also sadly forced to retire early, in his case due to Heart problems. The pair of them were amazingly talented riders.
I remember watching both of them race at Stanmer Park in Brighton many years ago - think it was also the first bike race I ever entered (pretty sure I came last too)

Thanks for the link guys - but unless you are going to drive down to Bristol and hold a gun to my head I am afraid you wont get a Levrier bag today - they are made to order and I have a few others in the que to get through first :)
If you must have one today - I would have thought the PAC/MW would be the way to go as It looks like Push Cycles who stock Belk aren't open Sundays... :(

No whippet yet - sorry, been snowed under getting these ready and sorting out various other things...
However I do have a new bag to announce and show of some pics with the new logo :)
http://levrier.wordpress.com/2010/10/01/2-bags-1-greyhound-and-1-deerhound/
These are a couple of comparison shots of the Greyhound and the new Deerhound. The Deerhound is about 55 litres main volume, but has been designed not to take up too much extra space on your back - so its only a couple of inches wider and taller, but its also deeper which helps give it the extra room :)

Patina fits better no? : "A change in appearance produced by long-standing behavior, practice, or use"
I am rather fond of the phrase - "(of having) the patina of benign neglect"
which I think sums up well what you are referring to, that a bicycle that shows its battle scars with pride is far more interesting than a show-piece, which is never ridden. -
Yeah mate you raise a very good point there - the stuff I buy is certainly sold as Cordura and has all the attributes of it, as to whether it is LICENSED (Invista don't make it but license the tech/patent to various mills who do... http://www.cordura.com/en/trade/mills.html ) or made to the same spec... I should probably amend my site to say that I am using 1000d Air Textured Nylon (same as 1000d "Cordura")
My point really was that there is that if it is 1680d is ISNT "texturised nylon" but a form of (cheap) ballistic (woven) nylon instead - very different to cordura/air textured nylon in terms of spec/performance.
-
as for cordura, that went right over my head, sorry. but surely they can't sell it as cordura if its not as its trademarked?
Yeah, that is a little naughty imo - I think they maybe could claim that they were using it i the same way as hoover is used to describe any vacuum cleaner... but still a bit cheeky.
More info here: TOM BIHN Forums: All About TOM BIHN Bags - View Single Post - What's the difference between Cordura and Ballistic Nylon?
totally with you on the laptop part but it wont be carried to much anyway, as for x strap, you do you mean the stableiseing strap? as it has one of them, its optional clip on thing. and i didn't think about the compression straps, humm pause for thought then.
No, I wouldn't consider ever using/recommending a bag without a stabilising strap. What I was referring to is an extra, 4th strap that acts as another should strap, thus spreading the load over both shoulders (referred to as an X-strap as when worn with the other straps they form an X shape when viewed from the front)
I can certainly make you a bag if you want, although that wasn't the aim of my post, just to make people think about bag construction and perhaps look at supporting smaller independent bag makers.

Dose anyone have any knowlege on this? i've tried searching but found nothing, its the Incase Courier Collection Skate Messenger Bag, £160 odd
i need a bag suitible for my new job and though id best to ask here. i'll be lugging a 17inch computer about plus sketch pads and cameras, to me it seems good but i obviously can't try it out as its online, just wonderer if anyone had any experience with them before i commit to buy. (and if there is anywhere cheaper to get one)
here is the link to the mac shop
obv i'm slightly swayed buy the skateboard storage and i'm fully aware that i'm a complete cliché
Looking at it - it looks like they do quite a lot of things right, but fall down on some points (which given the price they should be getting right)
There is no overlap to the front flap - so when folded over there is an entry point for water etc. You can see what I mean in the 3rd picture, there is a gap near the top where the flap folds down...
1680d cordura is less abrasion resistant than 1000d despite being heavier/thicker - this is down to the fact that it is not airspun/airjet textured like 1000d. Infact 1680d isnt
even listed by cordura as a qualifying fibre - so is likely not a Cordura licensed product. The laptop pouch puts the laptop on the rear of the main compartment against your back, not a good idea, as it means that the bag can't form around your (non-flat) back, much better for it to be on the front of the main compartment, so you can put your softer items in-between. This also only really works if you have a padded back to the bag....
I would also suggest that a bag of that size would really require an X-strap, so as to not be unmanageable when you (inevitably :) ) fill it. The front straps however look very short, so I am not sure that you will be able to fill it completely and still secure the load...
I can't see any compression straps or suspension straps either, which given its size would give me cause for concern that it will be rather sail like when empty...
As for the skate straps, I am sure that many smaller manufacturers would be able to add something like that very easily :)
All said, it still looks a lot better than a lot of mass produced bags.
*Fair warning - I make and sell messenger bags... *

awesome, did you have to unlock your phone first? i've never done this before, can it be attempted by a relative computer numpty?
You shouldn't need to unlock (hspl) it if it runs ok on your ROM version as you just launch it from your sd card.
Basically, all you do is download the image - save it to a folder called Android on the root of your sd card, open file explorer and navigate there, run clrcad (it appears to do nothing but sets up the sound to work) then run haret - that boots Android (first boot often takes a while as it creates various files etc) and away you go :)
if it doesnt work - then its probably down to your radio version - you can update this without unlocking the phone iirc
-
i'm mega tempted to convert my htc hd2 from win to android 2.2 or froyo. anyone have any experience with this and is it something i can do myself.
Yup - running shubcraft froyo2.2 on my hd2, works perfectly, really quick too. You need to make sure that your radio version and rom are correct versions otherwise it wont work.
It doesnt actually replace win mobile - it runs it instead - you can run either (before anyone asks - android does NOT run on top of winmo - you stop the win kernel and boot the android one up from windows)

-
Thanks man - that's good to know.
I have been doing the compression/closing thing to keep it simple - very much a design choice, as my first bags had several separate compression straps and I found i was faffing around doing them up/undoing them.
I really take it on-board though about oversize loads - I think I will look to add some strap extenders with the bags to take care of that (can be stashed away and only need to be added when you do have an oversize load)
Interesting to see that people think its not too heavy - that's always been a concern of mine, that you end up carrying a lot of weight just in the bag itself (a standard Greyhound weighs around 1.7kg btw) and its not something that other manufacturers seem to list in their specs, which is a shame. Having said that neither do I, although I am planning on adding weights and also offering lighter weight fabrics (although hopefully not any less durable)
