I would think that the cables you run would also need to be fire-rated and certified as well?

You have effectively created an aerial - the signal from a record player cartridge is very low, which is why it will go to a phono stage or phono input on your amp, that makes it very susceptible to any induced noise on the cable...

If you have a separate phono pre-amp then run short cables to that and the longer cables from that to your amp - as the signal will have been amplified to line level and therefore any interference will be much less noticeable.

Wiim arrived about 20mins ago - seems pretty straightforward, download the app to connect it to wifi and it does an update and then was available as a spotify connect device.
Came with basic but functional spdif, phono , 3.5mm and usb-c power cable (but no power supply)

I am also wondering about insulation. It's detached and made from a single skin of blockwork. Is insulation going to help if there isn't anything to keep it warm?

Have a couple of small windows on one side of our dining room that I am thinking of fitting solid shutters to. As it's in the old bit of the house the walls are 50cm thick, so was thinking about shutters that could sit flush with the interior...
Which would then allow us to ditch the horrible (but effective) curtains....

Also - need to find some not horrible wall light fittings....
