Whatever mate .. it is like talking to a brick wall sometimes on this forum .. guess what expensive saddles sometimes work and sometimes they don't ... I am just fed up of seeing you always quote someone else ... as some bullshit proof as whether it works as it is totally subjective.
I been riding bikes since some shit peugeot my dad bought until some of the kit I have until today and the last thing I gave a shit about was the saddle ... the first thing I gave a shit about is whether the fucker worked and got me to where I worked.
It total bike urban legend bollox and I can't stand it.

FFS Ed ... I have some shitty mountain bike saddle from the 90s that has no make and it is fine.
I don't need to "experience" some bullshit Brooks saddle that has some number which is meaningless to me and I will have to ride for several 100 miles before it is comfortable
Italia SLR or I will make do with whatever there is already is on my second hand crap bike.
Fed up with this bullshit brooks stuff .. it is expensive and lasts sure .. if you ride that bike everyday ... guess what I have 6 bikes and the only one I ride everyday is the beater which is a Marin Hawk hill from the 97 ... it has some no name saddle which does the shit .. I can sit my arse on it for 20 miles + .. I don't want to put a £50 saddle on £40 bike.
You don't need expensive leather bullshit for it to be comfortable ... HTFU and ride a shit bike for years on end until you can afford a decent on and maybe you'll be able to appreciate my standpoint

I use vi (well, vim and specifically macvim) pretty much exclusively! It's very extendable, there's a plugin to do just about anything, including support for intellisense. I like that my personal setup is almost ready to go on any platform.
This is not true, the world of version control goes far beyond dreamweaver. Git is my favorite.
There is even a plugin for VS to make it like VIM. I use it as a replacement for notepad. However I do all my work on ASP.NET so I might as well use VS.
I dual boot OpenBSD and use that for learning C and basically mucking about ... however my macs that I used to own are all dead now (iBook G4, bondi blue iMac g3).

The point I was trying to make is that everytime there is a saddle discussion Brooks apparently is the best of saddle construction etc etc.
I have ten quid saddles that is on my beater that fits my arse perfectly .. and it ripped to shreds ... it works for me. If it is comfortable go with it.
I was pissed because apparently Brooks solves all problems ... when it doesn't. Not everyone is the same and I basically decided to say it.

Correct, all you need is an ssh connection and use vi
I am developing a php/mysql based booking platform at the mo in "proper" code :)
This way i feel a complete coder, not some user who knows how to drag and drop pretty elements into a form
:)
We can all do that mate if we need to ... but I prefer an IDE with intellisense ... Cuts down on the amount of typing and tells me when I haven't closed tags etc.. dunno why "real" proper coders make it hard for themselves. Real developers make a job as easy as possible by using the best tools not out of some macho pride to be "hardcore" ... each to their own though.

dreamweaver cs5 has wordpress and joomla support now
Dreamweaver is really the only option when you have a large team working on a website as it makes it easy to tell who has done what and when they did it.
We used to use Perforce ... Release and Versioning ... but then again I work in a Windows world so ..

Interesting. I want to build a fairly complex website for portfolios and photos. What do you suggest?
Not sure ... I hand write all my markup/css/js using visual studio on Windows (which obviously isn't an option for you unless you run windows on your mac as well), When we had several designers using DW that was included in CS4, they had so many problems with it, they might have well have written it in a text editor or have got me to do it. It really depends on how much time you are willing to invest in learning it.
The thing is if you run windows on you mac it might be good idea to look at Microsoft WebMatrix ... which is currently beta but looks like a really nice piece of software and has support for Wordpress / Joomla.

Who cares if it is cheap or mass produced?? I don't as long as it is comfortable.. my cheapy ripped up mountain bike saddle is plenty comfortable for quite a few miles and I ride that everyday. Probably costs less than a tenner but it works for me ....
Less of the arsehole comments please Jason. It is neither big nor clever ...
EDIT: SLR forever.

For those who want to have a Brooks saddle but find themselves sitting on the metal frame instead of the leather part inbetween due to their sit bones being too wide, I find the Brooks B68 to be a great alternative, especially for those who want a Brooks B17 style saddle, I no longer find myself sitting on the metal frame and finally feel comfortable to ride in with;

Ed there are other better saddle in the world that aren't made by brooks and don't make you bike look like it came from the Jurassic age.
Sorry Brooks are soo overrated it ain't even funny ... Just get SLR ...

From your link:
"But now the Italian police are on the case. According to Corriere, the company distributing them in Italy is under investigation since the plastic bands are marketed as offering pseudo-health benefits, and in order to make statements like this, Italian law demands proof and justification."
It's the same in the UK, the Trade Descriptions Act (1968) makes it an offence for a trader to apply, by any means, false or misleading statements.
That is full of win!!

Lots of Potholes ... it is slightly blackey purple between halfords and con club before and after very grey with lots of pot holes and sandy coloured gravel .. I have ridden it about 2000 times over the last 13 years I reckon (I am not actually joking about this) and ran over twice on this route. Towards Animal Kingdom about 4-5pm you will get the smell of resin from the fibre glass boats being build up one of the side roads.
-
Back On Topic the most authentic place to ride is definitely Ringwood Road to Poole ... there is lots of post industrial .. working class scenery (con club(aka the monkeyhouse) at the summit) then a fast scoot into Post-Post-Modern Poole .. where there is a very commercial quay, with Aussie themed sports bars that don't show any sports.
On the way there ..you will see such delights as Animal kingdom which could possibly have protesters outside because they are selling our simian brothers. You will spin past the fish and chip shop in Oakdale and finally race for the traffic lights ... get this right and it is a great run past the kerry food factory (Richmond Sausages) and into the Harbour....
Very authentic.. indeed.

tried ubuntu by installing it on an external HDD so when i wanted i would plug it in, boot it and away. getting it to work was fine until i needed to do things like plug in other external hard drive which for whatever reason would not be recognised.
Went on the Ubuntu forum and to be fair a lot of people helped me, but it still didn't work.
I then decided after many many hours trying to get it to work to delete it. However the 'grub' thingy ubuntu installed on the HDD would not go away, even after formatting or low level formatting. I was like wtf ?! i hate this, so many problems for such simple things that just work on windows 7. i had to use KillDisk in the end to delete Grub, the most persistent, annoying thing i have ever come across. So yea that's my linux story. I for one don't see it's allure. nothing works without using some kind of code.
Grub installs itself as a rule on the first 512 kilobytes of the hardrive ... which is where your master boot record lives (this is the first thing the bios looks for after a boot). There are other ways of booting Linux with Grub ... when I used Window 2k, I used The windows bootloader to boot the Linux bootloader.
Grub is horrible ... I hate it ... I use this to dual boot ... GAG ... soo much simpler .. but doesn't work that well with linux tbh ... though I don't use it soo no big deal.
The allure anyway of using Unix like OS is that the command line is soo powerful for my work, and it is just nicer than using the Windows CMD. But I don't use Linux I use OpenBSD which is something similar but very different.
Anyway ... if you are happy using Windows 7 ... good man ... great OS .. I do all my dev work on it.
Whatever mate ... The Expendables is going to pave the way for a new Golden Age of Cinema.
I seeing it @8 and I am totally wired, I am like a kid on Christmas Eve. I am shaking I am soo excited.
