If she is just like the others why are our media tripping all over themselves?
She is an unknown and she is female + the recent controversy over her daughter.
When Barrack Obama announced Joe Biden as his running mate the press where largely indifferent as he is male and well known in American politics.

Slightly off topic but does anyone have any experience of helmet-cams?
There was this http://www.londonfgss.com/thread5198.html but as you can tell by Tynan's response, not entirely helpful!First hand accounts?
Helmet cams are ok, the quality as you can imagine varies, you can only really get SD helemt cams at the moment, your best bet is to just buy a bullet/lipstick cam and wire it into your DV camera in your bag.
Or pick up one of the slew of very small HD cameras and strap it to your helmet.

What you will get from the camera will be (depending on what you were hoping for) either very poor quality or simply unusable.
Even with in camera stabilization switched on (and presuming the better 'optical' kind not 'electronic stabilization') and perfect conditions - a smooth road and slow and steady cycling, you will be surprised at how shaky and unwatchable the footage is.
About the only way of getting good footage is to attach the camera to your head or helmet.

this looks too god to be true
:) your idea of 'too good to be true' is set pretty low - some metal rings.
I have loads of these, go to any bike shop with a mechanic and ask for a couple of old 9speed cassette spacers, they will usually give you a few for free.
Although with some hubs you pushing the cog further outboard may mean your lock ring may have too few threads to engage with.

Rik, to make it work you need to put the image tags on each side of the code.

if there were a freewheel, it would not click if the cranks were rolling forward regardless, even if they were turning due to rough ground or friction in the bearings or whatever. certainly not that fast anyway. just a thought.
It is fixed (or at least I suspect it is fixed).
The cranks move - and that is enough evidence for me to reasonably presume it is fixed.
The sound of the clicking freewheel is irrelevant, film sound is generally put on in post production, a field recorder would not likely pick up a noise like that - if you think what you hear in a film is what is on the screen then you may as well look for the invisible band playing the music that starts just before the bike shot.
Editor sees the rushes, sees the bike edit, sticks 'bike EFX' on his EDL/slate - the sound designer on the film (who shares the editors lack of interest/knowledge in bicycle drivechains) then gets a bicycle noise off an effects tape.
You are all idiots (except for Superprecise) and should be bitterly ashamed of yourselves.

According to a synopsis I found on the net this one is a 'follow-up'
Yeah, this is the follow up.
The first one came out, lots of Muslim wankers preaching Wahabbist bile like "homosexuals should be killed" - "Bomb the indian businesses" - "Kill the Jews" "the deficiency of women's minds" - your standard 7th Century backward stuff.
Channel 4 presents evidence to West Midlands Police, West Midlands Police finds no laws have been broken.
West Midlands Police and the CPS presses a case against Channel 4, Public Order Act I think (the case of course fails).
Usual liberal bullshit:
Hitler = bad.
Black Hitler = Oh, I am not sure, I think he has been misinterpreted. As for the follow up shown tonight, nothing new to add to what is already known, there are religious people that think those outside their group are beyond contempt, nothing new here, we have known that for centuries (if not longer).

So I've just been reading about obesity in America. In 2000 30% of American children were obese. This is the first generation of children that will die BEFORE their parents.
I love the "first generation of children that will die BEFORE their parents" - it is such a timeless classic. :)
I have heard it used for just about everything from nuclear arms, to cigarettes, chemicals in our food to bring drinking.
These children are prone to many forms of cancer, kidney desease, diabetes, sleep apnea and high cholestrerol they suffer from depression, under achievement, lack of atheletic prowess and experience poor social interactions and family relationships, they also tend to be teased remorselessly at school. It is really is a sorry state of affairs that parents remain ignorant of the harm they cause their children through bad diet.
While I agree with your assessment of the broad range of effects a poor diet can have, I am less sure that it is entirely accurate to blame the parents (if that is what you are doing), I think bigger culprits are governmental legislation on food standards, advertising, lobbyists from the food industry and so on. Basically the fuckers like Cadburys who distibute teaching packs to schools that claim “chocolate is a wholesome food that tastes really good… [it] gives you energy and important nutrients that your body needs to work properly.”.

I'm planning to have my frame powdercoated soon and I would like to put my own decal design on it. Is there anything wrong with using one of the companies that print decals for cars, then stick it on a bike and have it clear coated over?
Or, in other words, is there anything special about bike decals?
Not sure how well clear coat adheres to powder coat.

Yep, put me down on the list.
I have had a few turds come up to me over the years and announce "mate, that's my fucking bike, you nicked that from me".
Seems like an odd way to start an attempted theft ?
Maybe in the world these bastards inhabit the overwhelming majority of bikes they and their peers ride are stolen bikes, so they must occasionally get the response "sorry mate, I didn't realise it was yours, I got it off some bloke for £20, here take it back".

I'd rather mount McCain, with his giant grey haired 95 year old batty.
