As I'm a fakenger and prefer messenger bags to more conventional rucksacks, I am hoping somebody has a large messenger bag. lying around they aren't using and want to sell on. I already have a smallish Timbuk2 one which is perfect for a jumper, D-Lock, bits and pieces, but not much else; I want something I can use to carry all that plus the shopping and anything else I feel like shoving in.
I don't really care what condition or colour it is, just looking for a nice big messenger bag sub-£50, if anyone's got any going spare. Or if anyone can point me to cheap new ones that would be cool. And yes, I'd love one of Archie's Grobags but the current waiting list is 7 months and I'll at least need something in the interim!
Cheers =)

^ out of interest, how much do you reckon you spent on paint, stripper etc? I vaguely priced out doing it myself but decided the saving I would make vs armourtex was not worth it. But you do get to look at your steed afterwards and bask in the warm satisfaction of having painted it yourself.
I'll be stripping the bike down to the frame before I take it to armourtex. Can't say I've ever done that before (just replaced or 'serviced' parts individually), was thinking it would be OK, I have a decent set of tools etc, anyone think it will be a hassle?

For some reason this thread makes me all happy.
I've got the gore-tex, and find it very very breathable, so I'd recommend you just go for that, but maybe we should do an actual comparison at some point. Anyone up for it? Meant to be raining tomorrow, isn't it...?
I cycle from the Barbican to Wandsworth every night (return commute), leave around 6ish...if anyone wants to feel my softshell (phwoar) they're welcome...can deviate my route (within reason!), for a comparison too...

I got mine done at windridge had to pay postage but did a nice job.
They look good, but after a bit of research it looks like armourtex is my best bet - £60. Called them up and they were very friendly.

cool jusr requested the voucher Winston!
I just looked at the swrve website they have 2 types od material the Gore tex and Softshell 3000.
Any one tried both of them, and how would you rate them??cheers
I was cycling around Amsterdam all weekend in the pissing rain (great city, crap weather) wearing my new swrve hoodie - its the Softshell 3000 material and it didn't let a drop through. Was also nice and breathable. Apparently its more breathable/softer than gore-tex but a little less water resistant, but I was bone dry all weekend!

Another recommendation here, the story is: yesterday was umming and ahhing about buying some shorts and the milwaukee hoodie, was in email contact with Chris from swrve, who said paypal the money over and the goods can be there next day but cut-off for the post office is 4, but even if I paid after that he would do his best. Well, do his best is exactly what he did - I didn't paypal in time for the post office but he personally dropped off the top and shorts at my office this morning - what a legend. Customer service like this is a rare and wonderful thing.
And the clothing is awesome too. Great cut, top quality, really comfortable, and some brilliant choices of fabric for the pocket linings in the shorts ;-)
All in all, brilliant kit, brilliant service.

Not a 'gem' as such, but the poor bugger's just invested in one of those "frames that seem to be doing the rounds in London". Those spokes and red rims can mean only one thing.......
