Update on the zeeprompt. It's very neat. Assembles in literally seconds which is amazing. Super light, good quality glass, monitor isn't wildly bright but plenty good for text indoors and even out. Might struggle to see shadows if using as an eye direct-style rig.
About 1800 all in inc VAT and the optional hard case / spare d-taps etc.
Obviously the client has just emailed "hope you're well, job's off"🙃

I do. I'm not fussed about guarantees with a company like that. If it'll fail, it'll fail within the two years, not 15 and by then I've had more than a decent run of it. I get a lot of pleasure and consistent results cooking with them.
I've had le creuset stuff in the the past and enjoyed them but I like homogeneity, not a mix. So when an errant FiL scraped my giant nonstick le creuset pan with a metal spatula, ruining it like some fuckwit 8 year old, and my MiL dropped and broke my stoneware casserole (within a month of each other), I thought I'd switch.
I still have my cast iron skeppshults, but hide them.

I bought this a year or two ago and now do 80% of my cooking in it. So versatile. Bomb proof. Lovely to look at and a dream on induction. Easy to clean and looks brand new all the time. Doesn't stick but you need to be relatively careful - make sure it's up to temp, make sure you're moving it when it needs to, resting it when it doesn't etc.

I'm slowly building out to all Affinity pans. Picked up a 14cm and 18cm saucepan with lids. Casserole thing which I use as a wide deep pan for pasta etc
Next up is their wok (flat bottom and two side handles rather than one long one so not sure how it'll be for tossing but reviews are all very good):

These pre cut flat pack cabinet places - the cabinet shop / fittingly etc. Any recs for best one?
Looking for two alcove fitted wardrobes approx 93cm wide, 70cm deep, 230cm tall. Two doors, hanging rail, 3 drawers in bottom. Can be painted or we can paint.
I don't suppose anyone has figured out the 'hack' of just buying all the individual components rather than getting a set from one place? Struggling to believe that 2 cabinets should cost 5-6 grand plus vat which is what a few similar sites are quoting.

Not to hand, though here's a screenshot of a photo from when we moved in and, apart from scrubbing and a lick of paint it's not improved much.
The side return is made of 3 tiers/terraces, one underneath whatever that blue thing was (which includes a manhole cover leading to the sewer about 20 ft below), one where the photo was taken from, one behind. All about 20cm step each.
Wall to the right borders neighbour. Crumbling at the top with overgrown shrubbery. The wall itself is fairly sound (chonky Devon stone) but the top is angled crumbly concrete and a strong wind would probably see it gone.
Width of current stairs is around 90cm from memory.
Stairs currently around 3m long I think. And return is about 10m including stairs. Don't have drop measurements to hand.

Exterior staircases.
What are the options? Basically we have a (too short) run of crumbling concrete masquerading as a stair between our side return and a decked area (house built on steep hill).
We want a new staircase. I'm open to DIY, I'm open to trades.
What would be the stages?
- Knock the staircase down with a breaker
- Clear
- Profit?
What are exterior staircases built of?
Metal sounds awful but maybe I'm imagining awful staircases and nice ones exist. Could an awful one be covered convincingly by something e.g. decking?
Main priority is safety - so a more sensible length, less crumbly concrete - current one is a death trap. The decking at the top and the side return both get used by a clumsy as fuck child and elderly idiots. Neither are prepared to change their ways so the only solution is to throw money at it. Discuss.

Thanks. I do actually have some 16amp stuff for shooting in studios but was wondering how far I could push 13a connections. If it comes to it could be 1 light per extension and then other things like cameras with much lower draws. It'd just be nice to have a single cable run from a wall into the work area rather than multiples.
-
Are there any restrictions on the colour of extension cable coating?
And if not, any recommendations for custom cabling supplier? I'd like a set of 4 x 20m to 40m cable reels capable of plugging in two lights with these specs:
Power Consumption ≤720W
Operating Current 8A
Operating Voltage 100V~240V, 50Hz/60HzWould like a particular colour on the cable and then branding on the drums.

In other news, while I wait for SOMEONE to log onto PUBG, I've finally installed CyberPunk20whatever to give it a whirl.
Nomad, Corpo or Streetkid?
And also, since when did cd projekt red come up with this bullshit REDLauncher thing? Such a junk feature (looking at you, Ubisoft). But at least REDLauncher gives you an option to play without logging in..

DBR No bottom track but sometimes have a groove in the bottom of the door and a pin poking up from the floor in the jamb at the “entrance” to the pocket.
This is what we had when we moved in, but I ultimately made the only sensible decision that the only good pocket door is one that's been sledgehammered out of the already small aperture and sits leaning, broken, against a wall in a mould-covered downstairs toilet we never go in.

That was kind of what I had mind, however I've just seen this and the quick set-up/folding mechanism has me sold, so I've ordered one:
https://primelightdesign.co.uk/pages/zeeprompt
Also comes with software that has 3 seats and, unlike AutoCue, you don't need to pay a 225 quid a year subscription for.
Optional hard case and d-tap power (also ordered), very light weight, fits on 15mm rails (so no silly balancing of sleds), good for between 4 and 8m distance indoors.
I'll need to bring a second small laptop (one for autocue, one for zooming the interview out to remote client) but that's OK
Will report back.

Autocues/teleprompters.
I haven't used one in about 15 years. I often see iPads being used these days.
I've got a shoot next week which needs one.
I've potentially got a lot of shoots that need one later in the year.
I'm a buyer not a renter because I live in the middle of nowhere.
iPad and datavideo/ikan or whatever.
Hardware prompter like an actual Autocue (they've just announced their next gen version starting at about 2.2k+VAT but not sure it'll be around in time for my next shoot: https://www.newsshooter.com/2023/04/05/autocue-announces-new-teleprompter-range )
Are hardware prompters worth the money for sporadic use? Are they visibly easier to work with? I feel 'no' but can anyone with experience chime in? (Obvious answer of 'hire an autocue op with kit' isn't what I'm after).

Someone suggested it was an FAB-500M-62 - a russian take on jdam (adding wings to 'dumb' bombs). But supposedly the fins didn't engage properly so instead of gliding to a school/hospital/other, it just fell on the ground.

What's the lightest, (but also nicest) portable grill for seafood and veg?
At the moment am thinking something foldable like a ProQ Flatdog Foldable & Portable BBQ rather than a bozy shape like a Lotus.
There's a beach we discovered last autumn that requires a bit of light abseiling to reach the bottom of. I want to plan in meals now because I'm thinking it'll be our home from about May onwards.

F&B Dead Flat - any experience?
2 coats? 15? Not ordered yet, just been requested..
