It doesn't come with a cable though -that cable is one someone has added after market. It's got a 2 prong plug baked into the back.
Though actually looking at this video it seems to be plastic so I wonder if I can figure something out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LWbrKwZ-qA&t=312s
In any event, I think getting one, seeing in person and returning if not right is prob best course of action.

Great, thank you.
Feeling vaguely confident that I can get a dummies guide to soldering and not set fire to my house.
@spotter approve?

That's a cable coming out of a wifi repeater that someone has put in after market rather than the 2 prong plug which comes straight out of it when sold:

Here it is unadulterated:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/AVM-FRITZ-Repeater-1200-AX/dp/B09N4SJLWM
Assuming I knew how to solder, would it be safe to wire it to a UK 3 pin cable/plug? Where would the third wire go, if anywhere?
-
Oh god. Am I about to buy a 3d printer?
I guess I'm wondering if getting Frtiz repeaters is the best thing given the 7530 ax that zen send for free. Presuming they're very compatible in terms of setting up some kind of mesh thing (with wired backhaul) and it's just a case of pushing a couple of buttons or something? The alternative is to get third party repeaters but then how easily do those play with the 7530 ax?

Thanks for sharing these -have just searched a bit (for once) and found this person took his apart: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6554999
Tempted.

Thanks, I saw those but something about adding 9 quid a month per repeater didn't sit right. Would prefer to just buy two or three outright I think - was looking at the 1200 ax but can't find any with UK plugs - wonder if they're diy replaceable rather than bulking out the size of an otherwise neat package.

Thanks, I think ethernet throughout seems wisest. I'll look up best practices on running cables.
I'm presuming that the fttp box is the 'modem' and the fritzbox feeds from that over ethernet and acts as an initial wireless source. Then ethernet out from that to a couple of further wireless points? And somehow that becomes 'mesh'?

Right. Mesh. Happening.
Just ordered Zen (via openreach unfortunately so only 100mb up - better than the 10mb up if I'm lucky through virgin) and I want to have stuff in place.
Zen send a "FRITZ!Box 7530 ax"
Anyone care to point what I need to do to have fast wifi throughout the house? I currently use a powerline thing for ethernet into my work computer but I'm open to running cables.
Shopping list?
I'd be open to getting maybe 2 of these to keep it Fritz: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AVM-FRITZ-Repeater-1200-AX/dp/B09N4SJLWM?th=1
But not sure if that's the best thing for my needs. What's a wired/wireless backhaul? Again, am open to running cables throughout the house assuming it's relatively DIY-able (presume I'd need to protect them somehow from mice etc under floorboards?)
We live in a 3 bed Victorian terrace. Prob 20-30m or something from front of house to the back.

Been on the phone to cancel Virgin for about an hour so far. Feels like they're keeping me on so they can disconnect at 6pm so I have to try again tomorrow.
Reminds me of my wife trying to cancel her phone account with them and the guy in a call centre was having fucking none of it until I, 'a male', got on and suddenly 'oh, I see, the decision maker, in that case I suppose I'll oblige'.

Sigh.
Just had yet another email of cost increase from Virgin. Had planned to stick with them until CF arrive but their bullshit makes me feel ill. Cityfibre site has gone from saying "we're coming" or words to that effect, to:
"Availability results for CYOA's gaff.
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST.
To be the first to know when we are coming to your street and when you can access full fibre broadband, please sign up with us for updates."I've checked https://bidb.uk/ and it's not showing any planned CF works in my currently.
Openreach are already here. Zen 900mb (only 100 up) is £55 pcm (Virgin currently £76 going up to £78 for 150mb down about 12 up.) Had my heart set on 1gb down/up but might just swallow it before I have to get another email from Virgin telling me how hard they're working and they just need a tiny bit more money.

Is all privacy film for windows much of a muchness? We're after, I'd guess, some reeded type effect for a hallway window to minimise how often/how clearly we have to a schlong smushed against a window it overlooks.
Surfacedesigns is quoting about 75 quid for a 76 x 200cm run inc delivery which seems on the steep side for a single window given it probably costs about 5 quid to manufacture.

Zen tend to have very good customer service from my own research but not experience. That or they've got a solid team of bots spreading that message for them.
They used to offer a lifetime fixed price but had to change it very recently to a fixed price for the length of your contract which, if you stick with them, is still pretty good. As soon as cityfibre are running in my street they're first on my list.

I forget the specific model but I used to have a set of MDRs - brilliant sound and very comfortable (I think 7520?). The headband/hook connection did however break a few months after buying and Sony and/or retailer weren't great about getting them repaired so I stuck it out with gaffer tape for a while before moving to another brand. csb.

Unfortunately not, it's just some barracks or staff accommodation on the estate. The main home is a mile away around a river bend.
And just for skim readers that's not even the 'good' one, just a hunting cabin near the Mongolian border.
His fancy one on the Black Sea remains unscathed, though I can't imagine it'll be occupied by him again given proximity to Ukraine.

Decorative sockets.
Need some kind of twin fused spur. Had been looking at dowsing and Reynolds or whatever but they don't have a twin, just singles.
I could do two singles but might not have space as there is a double socket to the left and a single fused spur for the cooker on the right. It'll need to come out a bit anyway as we're soon to be tiling and it feels like there's barely enough cable length as it is. I have no desire to get the electrician back to add length after he nearly caused a fire by not tightening a cable into the consumer unit.
I see D&R sell custom plates but the options are only things like usb/ethernet/satellite etc.
I suspect I could get someone cleverer than I to fit the sockets I need onto it but in lieu of that, other brands to look at? Google isn't doing a lot for me.
