Thanks for the tip off, Ian. Researching into Geoffrey Butler I've seen people mention that the shop had various people build frames for them which were then all stickered up by the shop as GBs. I guess there's a chance it could have come from one of those frame builders.
The frame has a few bits attatched to it now. I really should put up another picture.

People who say things like this, overheard in the 2 months premature xmas toys aisle of a supermarket:
" I don't think a hoover is the sort of toy you'd want to give a boy is it, mind you most boys nowadays are f**king queer anyways, they don't make them like they used to"
The letters W, A and C spring to mind.

Having spent the last few years using one bike, the time has come to build another. The plan is to keep my current Steve Goff 531c as a summer bike and to build this mysterious orange beast that I purchased off the forum with mudguards to use for winter club rides, commuting and as a general workhorse. It'll be a bit of a rat bike as it may have to spend time locked outside shops and work in all weathers.
No idea what make it is although we suspect it may be Columbus tubing as it has Columbus droputs and at some point it has been repainted and a Columbus SL sticker added. The original paint seems to have been a metallic blue. If anyone has any ideas on the manufacturer then please let me know.

Can anyone help identify this frame that I bought off the forum? It's been resprayed and stickered as Columbus SL tubing which may or may not be accurate. It does have Columbus dropouts though. There is metallic blue paint showing in places which may be the original paint. No number on BB. The seller has had 2 LBSs suggest it may have been custom built because of the geometry. I suspect that the forks aren't original to the frame.

Thanks, staggy. I'll look into it.
Here's a bad phone pic of the bike in its current state. The fluted Kalloy seatpost and Fuji Track bars came from the forum. The SR stem and Elite bottle cage were found by rummaging in the parts boxes at the excellent Broken Spoke bike workshop in Oxford. A great place if you like budget bike tinkering.
