Thanks for all the advice, my friend and I also have one MTB and a flat bar cross bike available if they'd be more suitable. We'd have bikepacking gear but would hopefully be keeping it fairly lightweight.

Has anyone ridden The White Peak Loop yet? Reading online it seems it's not 100% complete but is do-able with some road sections and diversions. I'm thinking it could make a possible beginner bikepacking route. I presume the Monsal/High Peak/Tissington trails would be ok on a touring bike?

That's very cool. Something similar could easily be knocked up on a budget. I'd be surprised if Hobbycraft etc didn't have something similar.

Cnicht from the village of Croesor is nice, it can be done on it's own or as a circular taking in Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach.

The Walkhighlands website lists all the Hewitts (over 2000') in the UK with walk descriptions and links to perople's walk reports so that's worth checking out for ideas.

Lack of spraying area/conditions is definitely an issue, I suffer from this too. It was also a problem when I raced radio control cars and was trying to paint a body shell every week.

I really need to clear my work area so I have a proper painting/building space too. At the moment I have the kitchen surface which means getting all my modelling stuff out and putting it away again for each session. As a result I hardly do anything.

It's 25.4mm and it's been dibbed I'm afraid.

Exped Synmat. I found that because the baffles are lengthways rather than crossways like the neoair xlite the pad feels more secure like I'm less likely to roll off it. The side baffles on the Exped are also slightly larger to help keep you on the mat

Personal preference I guess, but I got a better night's sleep on the Exped as I felt more secure on it and they're quieter when moving around on them.

I'm a fan of the Califa Farms oat milk these days.

Are these any good to you? They have single straps on at the moment but I can take those off if you want and they have a slot for a double strap.
They're MKS brand and NJS stamped. I never actually used the pedals but they've been in my shed for a while so aren't mint condition, bearings feel like they could do with re-greasing which shouldn't be a difficult job.

Might be up for this depending on how slow it is and what my fitness is like by then, I'm just getting back into riding after a few years off the bike.
