Used plenty of road tubes in cross tyres when I've run out of the correct size and never had any issues. May be slightly more susceptible to punctures.

Most tubes are 19-23c or 25-32c anyway, no?

Yes, standard road brake reach should be fine, I'm using BRS-1 which have a 47mm reach, work perfectly.

Ritchey is done! 8 speed retroshift works a treat. Slightly less range than the previous 10 speed drivetrain but I'm hoping this'll encourage me to run and pick the bike up in muddy sections, keeping the bike a bit cleaner and preventing any more DNF.

The Cross Check is getting a low-trail disc fork, 45mm tyres (losing the mudguards) and a rear rack for late spring/summer overnight and offroad adventures.

and finally the Zullo is getting a 1" aheadset and steamroller forks as I've had enough of threaded headsets.

why the insistence on those forks? Never ridden a pair but I'm guessing they're heavy and perform pretty terribly compared to a modern suspension fork. If you're after more comfort I'd ensure you have clearance for 1.8"-2" tyres and use a rigid fork.

Going to try and make the May rides. Is Epping reasonably dry after the last two weeks of warm, dry weather?

Stronglight Durals are pretty good. No ramps or pins, cheap, hardwearing and readily available in a wide variety of teeth and bcds.

Can make either size fit. Any colour. Frame and fork only, headset and seatclamp would be handy too.

Anyone have a 1" steamroller fork? Surly lists the axle to crown as 386mm as compared to 375mm for 1 1/8". Does this mean I should get away with standard 39-49mm brakes okay when I put it on my road bike?

ah, yes indeed. It seems Royal Mails track and trace is much more detailed than Parcel Forces. It has been in my PO Box for two days so I assume they will be shortly be sending me a bill for customs charges.

I'm in Canada, and when I order something that's been handled by USPS that says it's been delivered, it has been delivered to me.

I've ordered something from the US, it's being shipped by USPS. Tracking information states it's been delivered. Can that mean it's just been handed over to Parcelforce? Because it hasn't been delivered.
