Hi. Thought I would just post to formally introduce myself. It's only polite eh? I'm Rich, here in London for the summer working (normally a student in Edinburgh). Thanks to everyone who helped me out at open toolbox this morning and polo this afternoon. Perhaps I'll get myself a suitable polo gear and give it a go sometime. Hopefully I'll see some of you at drinks this week (central or east most likely) and on a ride soon.
Cheers.

18t would give you an easier gear than a 16t. It works like this: the bigger chainring/smaller sprocket = bigger gear, smaller chainring/bigger sprocket = smaller gear.
Also, provided your wheel is sitting in the middle of the dropouts with the 16t freewheel, it should be able to accomodate an 18t.
As for a lockring, go into any bike shop (BLB if you're going there already) and buy a dura-ace one for a fiver or less.
Aye, hence me saying "read it backwards". I realised that I'd got it the wrong way round, but that was 5 minutes after my lunchbreak ended, so I spent the next 4 hours idly wondering how stupid i'd made myself look.
Lockring- yup. Done.
Cheers.

Yessir. Sounds pretty good. Presumably the sprocket comes with an instructional DVD on how to increase my leg strength... seriously though, I'm hoping to match up with my freewheel sprocket (also 16t) to create a fixed/free flip flop. So, it's a maybe.
Def. interested in the wheel and lever though. Pics?

Firstly, I am new to the forum- so, hi.
I finally got round to ordering a new rear wheel for my currently SS conversion. And, after BLB quoted me "Monday" (ordered Tuesday) it's apparently ready now. Happiness, unfortunately this leaves me with something of a laundry list of parts I still need. It's supposed to be a cheap/ used parts project (started it while I was in the US last year and didn't think I'd actually bother shipping it home).
Anyhow, I'm after the following:
Front wheel (not fussy, I am using a 27" as a stopgap right now)
16t sprocket (pref. not one that's been used and used and used (I should just buy new but £16 is £1/tooth and that makes me sad))
Lockring (I don't want to die)
Front brake and lever
Bars (I was thinking about going for a riser or flat instead of the standard road drops I have right now. Not something I can be bothered to do unless I find some for £cheap)
Willing to pay £beer or £reasonable. Can pick up, maybe Saturday, maybe Sunday. I'm in Hackney.
Ta!

I think it's something like 12 or 13 miles from Wimbledon. Depends on your definition of pilgrimage. I'm sure you could get a train part of the way.
