If you've not seen it already, Halo's page about their 15mm-12mm sleeve has some useful information about compatibility with fork dropouts.
https://www.halowheels.com/shop/spares/hub-spares/15-to-12mm-adaptor-sleeve/Also, some Halo hubs allow the endcaps to be swapped. Worth checking if this is the case for your prospective hub.

Ikea stackable boxes have worked for me in the past.

Cheers, so it's a case of 'thought about it and decided it was too much hassle for the intended outcome' instead of ' thought about it and realised it wouldn't work'. :)
I might try - paint is pretty nice on mine (had it redone a few years ago). Worst case outcome probably cutting them off and repainting anyway!

Hey @M_V if I recall correctly, you were once thinking of drilling out the canti studs on your old pompino and replacing with the removable type studs. Did you ever try this and if so how did it go? I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Giffgaff is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) using O2's network. A quick Google gave this link, which I've not read thoroughly and which seems to be US-centric, but it also seems to backup your suspicion that virtualized network customers could be given low priority when there is congestion.
Does Giffgaff do this? No idea.
I'm definitely not an expert so this might be all wrong. I've used Giffgaff for years and it's generally been the right balance of adequate and cheap for me.

whereabouts are you?
I'm staying on the mainland close to Stromness, with family, in-laws etc. All of us have different connections up here, the strongest being my partner who completed their first year of teacher training in Stromness. So it's nice to come back and experience it all again, albeit a few years later.
Yesterday we were on Rousay and had a look around the excavations at Swandro. Really cool stuff, especially as they have an 8 week season of work with the first 2 weeks removing the ballast stone that they leave in place to act as a defense against erosion from the sea, and the last 2 weeks putting it all back. So I was looking across to Egilsay in fact (albeit on the other side from Swandro).
About for the rest of this week - no plans for Shapinsay at the moment, but if that changes I'll be keen to pop by and have a jealous look at your site... As an engineer, albeit one without anything useful to add, I'm harbouring dreams of a similar project one day.

Those cable guides work good with fully enclosed mechanical cable terminating at a v brake noodle or a seatpost bolt-mounted canti hanger.
