I know its not the best place to be asking for geared stuff but.....
After going for a spin after a year off it I've realised that my road bike is too big for me. I've got a mate who is keen on taking it off my hands so I'm looking for something new.
Preferably something new rather than vintage (I'll save a vintage geared bike for my next project!)
Looking for something around the £500+ mark but could stretch higher for something lovely!

What worries me about the London velib is that it's whole purpose is to get people on bikes who usually wouldn't use them i.e. Inexperienced riders. What happens when someone on a velib bike gets crushed by a left turning lorry?
I think that it could be an opportunity to raise the awareness of dangers with bikes and lorries. Boris should get the message plastered across the hire stations, perhaps a message added into the hire procedure somehow?

The weight on the seatpost is no problem, I had to use them day in day out all of last year. Take a little getting used to but it never unbalanced me! I used the SQR system.

There is an awesome Nigel Slater chocolate pot recipe which is a wheat-free cake with Nutella in the middle. You bake it in the oven and the nutella becomes liquid (and fking hot!). I'll try to find a link
