Inspired by a chat with Simon at souths last week, I am considering growing a beard for the first time in my life (I'm 26). If not had a shave for 4 days now and its longer than I would usual let it get. Slightly itchy. I've just finished a massive patch of work and going on proper holiday next week and I quite fancy a beardy project.
So is it part of being a man to grow a beard at some point? Or is it just essential in later life when you want to do some touring?

The traffic was crazy today. Some days I feel like a traveler trying to cross the Sahara (WTF?). Only instead of an endless sea of sand, it's an ocean of autos. Metal and pavement as far as the eye can see. It's funny how I never view myself as part of the confusion, which, of course, I am. Instead, I split lanes and ride through it. I pass by the cars and dive by buses with a necessary simplicity. Instead of the thirsty, tired wanderer, I try to be the breeze.

Keep an eye on ebay, I got an 853 Rourke with Sugino 75 cranks, Goldtec/Open Pro wheelset and Thomson Stem/seatpost with a Brookes Swift almost brand new for £700!

Very limited sizes though, only 49cm and 56cm available

Just seen that 2010 Specialized bikes have arrived in stores so the '09 bikes are getting discounted.

The '09 Allez Elite is the same bike as the '10 Allez Comp but can be had for £880 reduced from £1000 vs £1200 for the new bike.

Whereabouts? Or is it generally available?

That wiggle Kiron blah blah thing is amazing value at £800, I think that would be a great choice. Only drawback is that he was going to go through Brixton Cycles (our local bike shop) which he wouldn't be able to do with wiggle

Just been having a look for alu frames with high specs but not really having much luck - as soon as you get out of the £900 range it swaps to full carbon frames.
Steel would be great but not in his price range ( I don't think?)

So general consensus is go for full carbon then?

My housemate is getting on the bike2work scheme and was quite sold on the Tricross (geared) but has been thinking about splashing out on the Tricross Comp which is £1200. He asked me whether it's a good deal, to be honest I'm not sure. It's good spec (105/FSA mainly) but it's still an Alu frame. Its going to be used for commuting and longer rides including London-Paris next year. So......
For that money would you be expecting fully carbon, or is it better to get alu with better specs?
If I should take this the fuck off to bikeradar please say.

About 10.30 so fully dark, no lights and awful road awareness. Pulled out from behind a bus just as I was going passed, had to swerve hugely just to avoid taking both of us out.
