Finally built up my Mercian frame. Spent 4 months telling people it was nearly ready until last week when I finally pulled myself together and got it on the road.
Really was worth the wait though as it's such a great ride.
All I really want to do to it now is possibly put a smaller stem on it and change the bars to drops or risers. But it's really comfortable so I might just leave it. Not sure.Sorry about the poor quality phone camera photo.

yes. either use an old BB to chase a thread or get a LBS to extend thread. or bodge it and file of half the threads on the BB, to fit of course!
Already given it to LBS. I'm pretty sure they said they're going to recut the threading on the frame.
Have you ever filed threading off bb before, is it tricky? -

Just installing a new bottom bracket on an old mercian track frame and i'm having a few problems.
About half way through on the right hand side the bb seizes up and is a real strain to screw in. I really dont want to damage the bike or the bb, I was wondering whether I should carry on screwing it in with some force or not? I should also say that I've given the thread in the frame a good clean and have put on generous amounts of lube
Cheers

Got pm'd just before you Sam sorry, but no reply from them yet.
Cranks are 119BCD. Do you want to use it on a geared?
The cranks are those old custom ones with fixed chain ring bolts. You'll need to drill them out and just use the 52t or maybe you could cut off the 52t outer ring and try and use them as normal cranks? (probably dodgy to cut off the 52t anyway). -

Only met the guy that gave it to me once. He only used it on the track a couple of times and then gave up. He said he doesn't really cycle at all any more and wanted the frame to go to someone that would use it and appreciate it. When i went to his house to pick it up he had a fucking nice Raleigh Team Ti sitting in the back of his garage under a load of junk. He didn't want to sell it though, said it was for his son once he's a bit older

Thing about Norwich is the pedestrianization of the city centre. Stops traders getting access to Dixons.
