We have used a Tojiro DP Nakiri for the last 5 or so years. Haven't sharpened it once (except honing steel) and it still cuts like a dream. I've sharpened other knives 20+ times in that timespan (decent quality knives, to a razor edge) and I have to keep re-sharpening them after a month or so. This knife keeps an incredible edge.

The design around it kind of looks Celtic to me. I guess it's a kind of curio/bric a brac touristy thing.

As someone who lives near the Northern tip of Grunewald, I much prefer the ride out to Wannsee. Can do it almost entirely off road through the length of the forest (lots of different tracks and paths), cycle on the bike lane on the edge of the forest, or go along the Havel. All routes are nice. Havel route can get a bit congested on sunny weekends.

Lützi hated it in the beginning but my partner was really good at persisting with her. I am too weak with this type of stuff. We don't let her stand on the escalators, all pick her up. I have nightmare visions of claws getting stuck.

Glad we took her on trains/buses/ubahn etc from the get go because she just treats them like the car now. Lies down and sleeps (while blocking as much floor space as possible).

Cheers couldnt more pleased with it. It feels a bit like wearing something alive as I always have the urge to feed it sunlight.

Ours has good recall until she's on heat, then she'll have a couple of bad days. We got kicked out the park a while back because she went after the geese/swans. She will completely ignore waterfowl normally but that day she decided she'd had enough.

I can recommend this book. We used it for Lützi and it worked incredibly well. Like @ltc says, there needs to be consistency between the people training/living with the dog. Obviously you need a lot of patience and will power (so does the dog).
