Does anyone know of a waterproof (possibly non plastic) bag that is good for strapping onto racks?
I currently just use a big shopping bag but it looks like shit and isn't totally waterproof. That said, the shopping bag is great because it has handles and doesn't look like a technical piece of cycling equipment off the bike. -

Any neat tricks for excess rear cable?
I'm removing a front rack and previously had the excess rear cable just curled up and taped on a strut. I'm half thinking about stuffing it up inside the fork crown/steerer, is that a thing?I've neatly taped it under the top tube using a trick someone mentioned on here, the downside is that I can't pull the cable through to trim it now and I rly don't want to buy more of this 3m cable guide stuff.

Fitted the 8 pack front rack to my cross check and tied on a wald half basket. I was very tempted by a proper basket but the guy in the shop persuaded me that half baskets were a bit more versatile. I'm not 100% sure I made the right choice, but it's nice to get a rucksack off my back in the hot summer.

We decided not to get our girl spayed. She's nearly 4 now and our experience through 3 heats is that dog owners are worse than their male dogs. My gf has been shouted at and insulted on several occasions. I've seen people literally pick up their dogs and run away when I tell them my dog is on heat. Maybe Germans (over the age of 60) are particularly opinionated about it but here it seems to be male dogs can do whatever they want and female dogs must always be spayed. Lützi is healthy and wonderfully behaved and we won't be spaying her any time soon.
Oh what a lovely dog she's beautiful
SHE'S ON HEAT?!!!

Lützi last week on a camping trip enjoying the hundreds of miles of waterways in the Spreewald region of Germany. Second photo is when we spotted a Pine Marten eating blackberries on the bank. She prefers being at the front of the boat if given a choice. I think it's because she rides at the front of the bike in the basket and it reminds her of that.

Me neither. I'm not saying it's a razor edge, but I haven't sharpened it once, and haven't felt the need to. We don't mash it on bones or tough stuff, so we have looked after it quite well. I bought it from a Japanese knife shop on great Portland street in early 2019. Maybe my standards for sharpness are just not high enough though.

Found this lovely old Solingen knife (really old I think) at the market but it had no handle. €8 but that felt a bit steep for a broken knife. Bodged on a maple wood handle. It's been through the dishwasher a bit too much and picked up some stains over the last year. I like the slightly larger handle. I was tempted to make it quite thin but this feels better in the hand I think. Gets a lot of use as we're not precious about it.

We have used a Tojiro DP Nakiri for the last 5 or so years. Haven't sharpened it once (except honing steel) and it still cuts like a dream. I've sharpened other knives 20+ times in that timespan (decent quality knives, to a razor edge) and I have to keep re-sharpening them after a month or so. This knife keeps an incredible edge.
