id hate to go a week without cycling. first off it would be a massive pain in the ass as id have to walk everywhere, and im not paying for shitty public transport that doesnt run when i need it. i work in the evening so spend my days riding (30-60mi), and then ride to and from work (18mi) getting home at around 4:00.
secondly id dread to think what i would do with all that extra unspent energy. either it would manifest itself in complete lethargy, or id join a fight club. im not really sure i want to do either when i like riding bikes so much. before i started riding bikes, i either sat at home geting stoned or going out being mad on booze and turkish rugs, i much prefer my life now.

i dont really mind riding drunk, but it definatly affects my perception of time. ill ride home and spent half an hour opening my door wondering how i got there. if im really wasted ill have trouble getting on my bike and giving up when i cant get into the straps. i hate it though becuase i get paranoid someone is going to nick my bike while im walking with it.
when i lived in cornwall i was working in a pub and a waster, so i rode home fuzzed most days. but it was fine becuase its cornwall and youd be lucky to see a bloke with dog than any traffic past 11. now i live in kent i have to deal with police rolling around and stopping me. alot of the time during the late hours they are virtually the only people driving around.
my mate had just got a new MTB with disk brakes, and got really pissed that afternoon. on the way back he did a full 180 becuase the breaks were so sharp. broken nose, hand, and fucked elbow amounst large amounts of road rash. dont ride unfamiliar bikes when drunk!

i had it really bad on my scalp for a while. i combated it with vitamin-e suppliments everyday, and this charcoal based shampoo called polytar. i use it every other day and ive never had a problem scince. i still have a bit in the tops of my sideburns around my temple, but this normally goes when ive seen a bit of good weather.
swimming in the sea helps to, but for some reason washing in salt water at home didnt for me.

im going to assume your talking about wrapping drop bars. why do people wrap thier bars from the bottom? doesnt this make finishing the bars by the steam sleave a little messy?
ive always wraped mine from the stem sleave to the ends of the drops. its always worked for me and ive never used leccy tape to hold the bar wrap like some people do.

i didnt realise those triple triangle GTs were actually MTBs, i really like those frames, always wanted one myself. do they have horizontal dropouts? if not, eccentric hub or new dropouts? ill be interested to see how tight the clearences are with 700's.
/attachments/6013that jeff bruce is one of the wildest lo-pros ive seens, looks crazy to ride.
that fuji looks almost exactly the same as mine apart from i have a black brooks and drops with black tape.

i have a bunch of regulars at the pub i work, who are basically middle aged chavs with fairly nice cars. not boy racers, but they dont have ferraris or porsches, im talking BMWs, audis, that kind of shit. they fairly nice blokes apart from being ideologically polar opposit to me, but they rag on me being a cyclist all the time.
it seems to me that they hold these posessions as some kind of indicator of success, its a status sysmbol and a massive extension for thier cock. i think they find it hard to understand that i dont give a fuck about having a car, which undermines all the effort they go through. after working hard to buy cars they cant afford, it annoys them im quicker across town, not a fat unhealthy fuck, rule the road, and that i slow traffic down. they have to deal with shitty traffic jams, road works, taxes, expensive matenance/repair. i get to roll about and have a giggle.
there are very few occasions where i would say i slow traffic down, somtimes on a tight road its unavoidable, but most of the time im riding fine and its the shit driver whos too scared to pass me. im prepared for cars to pass me for fucks sake, do they think i want to be killed? them driving unpredicatbly is the problem.
road rage is problem for most people, i get it and i ride a bike. i hate van drivers becuase they are so fucking inconsiderate, i guess its the same for them and cyclists. i also think its fairly true that most males dislike other males unless they know them.
when the cyclist bashing has gone on for a while, i normally just close with telling them i have loads of fun, weigh less than thier beer gut and the ladies love my cut legs. there is a certain way to handle pub blokes.

i dont know how you can say its ugly, i love how smooth it is and the two tone. it does look a bit like a car alloy wheel.
im really bored of seeing the same old retro cranks and C Record lookalikes. i find the sugino really plain and boring to look at. thier all good cranks but aesteically dull when they seem to be everywhere.
as much as i like vintage track bikes, ive found myself veering away and being more interested in modern stuff.

i think bike stuff is the only thing that i spunk money on and dont feel guilty about. i know that whatever i buy is going to get heavily used and therefore worth my investment. i used to spend an awful lot of money on clothes which was a silly habit, but has now transfered to bike stuff. i actually find myself wearing my bike clothes most of the time these days, every payday i visit the rapha website but manage to resist wasting money.
i dont have any really fancy bikes, but one of the great things about bikes as a hobby is that unlike cars or motorbikes, you can have the ultimate dream bike without having to spend thousands on it. i like cars but couldnt ever afford a porsche, but i can realistically own a campy colnago. with that said, it still can be expensive shizz.

yeah, i have MTB shoes so dedicated road pedals are kind of out of the question.
to be honest i think id just get used to whatever pedal i was using and i think all of the major brands would probably be fine.
im going to borrow a freinds set of looks for a couple of days to see how i feel about them. unlike alot of bike componants i think pedals are somthing i need to try, becuase whatever i choose ill probably end up having on all my bikes.

ive been riding with some standard shimano SPD pedals and the obligatory toeclips+doubles and im finding myself useing the SPDs increasingly more often. at first i found myself rarely using my SPDs, but now it doesnt feel right without them. ive just got some bootie socks to cover my shoes as well which is great for riding this time of year as i got sick of having frozen feet.
i want to get some better/fancier clipless pedals now, and ive been looking at the crankbros pedals. they look real nice and crankbros seem to be a solid reliable company.
has anyone had experience with these pedals? how are they for fixed riding?
i aslo ride SS and geared, so experience with them on a freewheel would also be interesting.

addidas do these modern old timey look shoes which im quite taken by. i think thier fairly rare and on the wrong side of expensive though.
really dont like the patent on those last ones, and the silver is shockingly bad. theyd look great if left matt.
the race dromartis are fucking amazing. im finding it hard to control myself and not buy them. i would also love them in black.

i dont know about duffy, i dont find her hot, and while her voice is good, her music leaves me completely flat. it feels at times like a cheap mans winehouse, but less crazy/sexy and easier to market as shes a good girl.
i also dislike diet coke. i like fat coke, but i dont see why anyone, even people who choose for health conscious reasons would choose to drink that shit. if you want healthy, dont fucking drink coke to begin with.
-
like others have said i dont get it. but i also dont send texts unless i dont want to talk to the person. why arse about writing on a stupid keypad and waiting for a reply when you can ring them with two button presses, and get an imediate responce and a bit of a chat.
the people that i care about i see/speak to most days anyway so i dont need some lame website to tell me. i dont get whats special about it either, its just a really short blog right?
unfortunatly with social networking sites there is always an element of egotism. come and look at all the wonderful things that im doing and how many friends i have. i gave up trying to impress people a long time ago.

i dont know about the whole doping malarky, but i dont like lance. hes far too smug and american for my taste. i hated the way when Beloki crashed on the descent and lance had to ride across a field, he got back on right in the middle of the road during a descent. what a wanker, he could have really fucked up there. maybe im too british and reserved, but i find alot of his celebrations to be well over the top. its all minor, but in cycling you like some people and not others.
i think alot of the reason i dont enjoy watching lance is that its never really a battle. he just wins all the time in an unspectacular style. for a sportsman to really shine he needs good competition. we all knew ulrich was never going to beat lance so it was pretty dull watching. thats why i like lemond and finion, you knew they hated each other and there was a constant rivalry which pushed thier riding.
with all that said there has been some classic lance moments. i liked seeing jan ulrich being caught in the first stage TT in 2005, and the Hautacam attack was amazing to watch.
probably been posted but somthing this nice in infinitely worth repeating

wierd seat post clamp though.
