What's going on with the bolt along the arm there? Looks like the ring is bolted on the outside of the spider, but the inside for that one bolt.

exactly. when you run 2 rings you use a long bolt with a spacer between the rings. for a single ring setup I only needed a normal bolt here.

get triton to make you one based on a tubus design. with proper clearance.

the airy will limit you to 47mm tyres...
tubus have some neat dimension drawings on their website.

make sure that the rack is wide enough to fit your tires in.
I use a tubus disco and don't have too much clearance with 2,35 tyres.
