Just won this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130350864601&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
There isn't much info, but it's local and seems to be fairly decent spec.
I'll find out tomorrow.

It wasn't exactly my plan to use 28c (front at least), the idea of a spare wheelset though might influence my choice, dunno. These are obvs not the wheels I'll use, it's just to test!!
I've seen everything at SJS, too expensive and not what i'm after, I found rigida anyway (pair) for the price of 1 jalco at SJS.Clearly not, how many (real) track bikes use 28c tires? (grass track maybe). There's still a bit under 1cm left of clearance with the 700c x 28c...

My carlton (track 531c 1987ish) has a fair clearence, these are 23s

and yes, the rust needs sorting, just need to work out best option.

I use these:

You don't get the ETTL communication, so your limited to controlling via manual mode (but the 580 is pretty customisable). However they are radio controlled, so don't suffer from problems of the canon IR system. Pocket wizards are obviously better, but these are very cheap and work well.
You can get extra units for multiple flashes.

I've owened both the 50mm 1.4 and 1.8, don't really like the focal length on crop bodys (I leave the sigma 30mm 1.4 on most of the time)
The F1.8 is probably better at 1.8 that the 50mm, slightly dreamy look to the 1.4 when wide open to F1.8.
Build is nicer with the 1.4, but not really worth the extra money.
On the 18mm - argument, i'd call bullshit, theres nothing wrong with superzooms. I don't own any because I don't like shooting with zooms. But its horses for courses, and the 70-200's and 14-24's of this world are impractacle for proper photography; your definition of proper photography might vary from mine.

Jeez, I should have polished mine up and sold them on ebay, £150 last year.
Then is the chainring the valuable bit?
