Well, I was wondering about that, it looks the same as the armored cable lock I got for £20 (which I returned because it was 3 times too long but still couldn't get both wheels in. But this was £4 from Alde... and with locks I assume it's more about how they look (we've all seen the youtube clips - you can break any of them) so are the branded ones really any better? A D lock would certainly be an improvement over any chain type.

I've currently have a cheap steel shell chain type lock which I can get round my rear wheel/frame/secure object. Do people use extra locks for the front wheel to frame, and if so can you get really short one? I'm trying to cut down on lock weight, else i'll be nearing the weight of the frame.
Cheers.

New project, well revived as I had it on hold whilst I got track bike up an running.
Frame:
Got campag cranks on it now, so I need to cheaply source some chrome forks (http://www.velokit.co.uk/cart_productdetails.asp?PRODUCTID=3411 - these look cheap but probably ok?)Will need a cheap headset saddle and seatpost and some wheels.. Hopefully before my back breaks on the carlton!

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=6129 they're cheap and look ok, any way of finding out if they're the soles which make that horrendous clackety clack noise when you walk..?

In my defense, I was only using it whilst I picked up something more secure. And around here we only seem to have kids nicking all suspension mountain bikes anyway, a rusty track frame isn't particularly hot property. However i'll probably go for a larger D lock as a main lock and get a cable lock for the front wheel.
