Dear Ride Leaders and Marshals,
We regret to inform you that we have received notification from Transport for London that all the TfL Guided Rides which LCC were commissioned to deliver during August and September 2010 have been cancelled.
This means that unfortunately all the future rides you are booked to work are not happening, and that you will not be paid a cancellation fee for these future rides, because TfL have given over 72 hours notification of this cancellation. Below is a statement which TfL have asked us to forward to you:
As a result of low participation in this year’s programme of guided cycle rides, TfL has taken the decision to cancel the remaining rides. Guided rides to support the Redbridge and Central London Sky Rides later this summer are unaffected by this decision, and will continue as planned. Sixty-nine people took part in the guided ride for the Ealing Skyride earlier this month.
It was always our intention to closely monitor this year’s rides and only deliver rides if demand was sufficiently high. Despite the publicity we did around the guided cycle rides and the changes we made following the feedback we received on last years rides, there was a low level of take up.
TfL will continue to develop and try innovative approaches to encourage cycling and help cyclists gain confidence and ride safely. Last year we provided a record £3m funding for cycle training for Londoners of all ages.
Thank you for your commitment to these rides. We are disappointed that TfL have chosen to cancel the rides but also understand their reasoning.
We are sorry that you didn’t get an opportunity to deliver these fully, and that you many have changed other bookings in order to be available for this work which has now been cancelled. We now have all your contact details on our database, and will let you know about any future work opportunities by email, as and when they arise.
If you have any comments regarding LCC’s organisation and delivery of the Guided Rides, we would welcome you feedback, and have attached a short word document for you to fill in and return to me by either post or email.
With regards to invoicing for the work you have already done, I will re-send this information on the following email.
With thanks and kind regards
Lu Everett
