Saw this just outside my office about an hour ago. Styling not really my taste but the workmanship on this build was just incredible. Very very impressive indeed.

Always keep the front brake slightly looser than the rear brake...
Good advice.. never thought of that.
In respect to helmets, I say nothing.
I only mentioned the helmet as i landed on my head, and because of the lid, didnt break my face. Thought i should big it up a little. Couldnt give a fuck about whether anyone else uses one though, didnt even know it was in debate.

Wanted to share this with you lot. And particularly you mans dem who roll sans helmet.
Last night coming home from work I was just coming round the corner of Buckingham Palace to go up the Mall to Trafalgar Square. The lighting round there is all moddy/classy so no real use to anyone. Anyway, some dizzy bitch steps out right into my path and I jam on my brakes.. a little too much pressure on the front and I'm straight over the handlebars. Impact was shared between my head and wrists. There was no choice, it all happened pretty quick.
Anyway.. point is, my wrists are all fucked up n sore but my head is totally fine. Not even a small bruise. My helmet though, mate.. its wasted. All cracked up n dead as fuck. Had it not been on my head when this happened, my poor head would surely be in a sorry sorry state right about now.
Made me really really REALLY glad i wear a helmet. Now the ride home is dark, this kind of shit is sure to happen more and more.

check out the Koss porta-pro
http://www.koss.com/koss/kossweb.nsf/p?OpenForm&pc%5Ept%5EPORTAPRO
They're far better than 90% of all sub-£100 cans and they're only about 25 quid.

Almost wiped out horribly earlier cuz i got bullied onto the deep left-hand-side of the road by some pyscho in a coach.
In case you're new to road riding, those strips of traffic paint (double yellow lines etc) are fucking darkside when wet/greasy. I should know better as I've been riding motorised 2-wheels in London for donkeys.. still i suppose i forgot and this big ass coach didnt help. From now on I'm riding well into the lane, any asshole behind who feels like he's being held up can overtake when theres room.
all in all,.. dont be bullied into that first foot of asphalt where the traffic paint is, its horrible shit and will take you down.

In case anyone runs a search for such an ailment, thought i'd post this. Might help out another fellow newb. I learned some new shit, wanted to pass it on. If you have any clue at all about building bikes you'll prob be laughing by the time you reach line.2 .. this is purely for the simpletons like myself.
So my crank was making a weird knocking, clicking sound. Seemed to be particularly bad when just setting off. This had been going on for a good week or so, steadily getting worse. It felt nasty, made the bike feel real loose and rank. No good at all.
While riding and contemplating this weird disease my poor drivetrain had picked up I eventually decided it had to be the Bottom Bracket. Such is the beauty of single speed right ? There is so little that can go wrong. My chainline was straight, my cogs were all true, chain well lubed.. all that shit. So i tried getting the crank arms off.. no joy, those badboys were on hard-as-nails. Turns out i needed a 'crank puller'. Eventually bought one today on the way home from work. I'd already picked up a 'BB Tool' when installed the crank in the first place.
As soon as I'd got the crank arms off and took the BB tool to the lock-cup thing of the BB, it was emediately apparent it was well slack. I took it all out, gave it a clean, greased it up good n proper and then re-installed it.. turned it in super tight. Next just re-installed the crank arms and took it for a spin. wow.. a whole world of difference.
Thinking about it now I feel like a right tit. Such a simple thing. Anyway.. in case anyone else suffers a weird clicky, knocking crank. Try this. Might be your prob.

I have these on mine:
http://www.tredz.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=20115
They're great. Nice n small, light and have plenty enough 'pull' to lock the wheels if thats what you're after.
I think someone on these boards de-anodised a pair of the same levers, made em all shiny.

on the subject of Monica Belluci, has anyone seen Irreversible? my housemate has it on DVD... it is really fucking dark...
Fucking excellent movie. Pretty much has to be my favourite film ever made. The guy who made that, Gasper Noe, is a seriously hardcore film-maker. His whole 'bit' is no-compromise 'reality'. So if its violence he's showing, he wants you to feel it in yer belly. If its love/romance, equally he's commited to showing it 'how it is'. Check his other films.
On the subject of Belluci tho, she did another film with her man Vincent Cassel called 'Dobermann'.. mate.. that is one truly awful, yet hugely entertaining film.

Hi all
Planning a wee tour over to paris soon with a mate.
One of the things that concerns me is tank slap/wobble/shimmy/call-it-what-you-want
Currently, if i remove my hands, my bars/front forks start to shake and work themselves up into an almighty wobble. It only happens when i remove my hands but it slightly worries me that it could happen with hands attached when cruising at serious speed (i've only ridden this bike in london on pretty flat roads so rekon my top speed is ~30mph).
I've searched lots about this on Google and read an interesting article by Sheldon on the subject but as most of what people seem to say on the subject is contradictory to eachother, I thought it'd be interesting to see if anyone here has first hand "found->cured" experience on their bike.
