I was watching from just about where they are lying in the second photo with my 7 year old (who had finished racing in the juniors). I was fortunately watching and managed to grab him by the scruff and get most of him out of the way. He has a rather impressive bruise on his thigh where he got hit by Mr Twickenham's helmet. It all happened very very fast.

Fabian Cancellara - a study in strength and flexibility
Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara made a clear impression on Pruitt, with the American proclaiming after the medical assessment and initial bike fit that, "I have learned a lot about the reason for this guy's success in the last few minutes". The reason for his praise? Cancellara's considerable flexibility and strength, which enable him to comfortably hold an aerodynamic tuck during time trials. Of the Saxo Bank riders seen, Cancellara seemed to impress Pruitt most, biomechanically; in fact, he had some good news for the Swiss TT specialist after the examination.
As is always the case, the BG assessment started off with an examination of the rider off the bike. Cancellara was judged to have good shoulder strength, and was then asked to touch his toes; he did more than that, putting the palms of his hands flat on the ground and earning praise from the assessor. His leg length was found to be equal.
He was then asked to lie on his back, straighten his leg and raise it upwards towards the vertical; he was found to have 85 degrees of angle on the right leg, with three more on the left. Pruitt was clearly impressed with this, saying that it was "very flexible for a big guy", while bringing his knees to his chest revealed what was termed, "huge glute [gluteal] flexibility," namely a right leg reading of 130 degrees and a left leg of 135. His glute strength was judged by Pruitt to be 'bulletproof'.

@willo Do you not race?? I'd love anyone of those wheels
Somebody has to stay at home and look after the kids. I tend to road race only, and have some hand-built PMPs built with Open Pros and another set of PMPs built with deep section carbon rims.

Mrs S has:
- Corima Disc - the go to rear wheel, which she believes gains her 2 mins over 25m compared to the Zipp
- Zipp 808 - for hilly events where the weight of the disc may become an issue
- HED Trispoke front - for windless days
- Hand-built 45mm carbon rim on a Tune hub front
She will be getting a Lightweight disc for the national events this season, and we are also considering a Xentis front. Cockpit is being upgraded to 3T Ventus. Frameset is being upgraded.
Needless to say, it is costing me a small fortune. Anyone want to sponsor her?

@ ewanamacdonald - assuming that you are doing iron-man and half iron-man, you will gain much more from an aero front wheel than you will from an aero rear (unless you run a disc). When Mrs S started (just a year ago) we initially went with just an aero front. On your budget, there is a lot of choice, particularly if you can pick something up second hand. The time-trialling forum is a good place to look.
As far as I know, the main benefit of a deep rim rear is to help handling in windier conditions.

I have a pretty small head for a girl, and I'm fairly sure I'd need a small otherwise I would probably be tempted by it. It would indeed match my kit, though my use for it may be fairly limited.
The helmet in the first photo will be up for grabs shortly if you are interested - Mrs S has a small head.

There are two that you can use - one in Wiltshire, and one in Northamptonshire. This was Northamptonshire. They believe that she has gained an effective 28 Watts from the adjustments to her position and a different helmet, even though they have lifted her front end. It will be interesting to see how much quicker this makes her.
She'll have a new frame and cockpit too - it seems I'm much more excited about this than she is.

Trying to reconcile with the results, it would appear that the villain could be a Jacek Reder, private member, who finished 3rd...
