@t-v It wouldn't surprise me.
I can't believe whatever mild symptoms I and my flatmate had were the same strain that hospitalised a fit guy in his 30's from my workshop building and killed my uncle.
Either there are different strains or there is a genetic element to who is most vulnerable (disregarding age and pre-existing conditions).
I'm lucky in that I've only had flu twice in my 40 years. Could this be related to the mild level of symptoms I got for what I assume was covid19?
Who knows..

That's interesting how close the average ages of the two cities are.
My post was just thinking out loud really.
I'm well aware you could live in parts of London and not see "old" people.
case in point - The average age of the street I grew up on is definitely younger now than when my parents moved there 40 years ago.
-
I lived in Stockholm for a brief period 17 years ago.
Something I found very unsettling were how few older people there were around.
I grew up in south London so the idea of public transport being generationally diverse was ingrained in me.This was just not the case in Stockholm.
My then girlfriend explained that many, many people would leave the city as soon as they retired.
I think this goes a long way to explaining some of the variations we see in the Swedish figures.
A large proportion of the most vulnerable to the disease aren't living in the areas with the highest population density.
I would also imagine the average health level in sweden is higher than the UK so those that do get it have more chance of not being affected as badly.
Just musing out loud.

I unearthed these whilst looking for some bits in my parts bin for my new bike.
Original " Back Boris " reflective trouser clips from Boris Johnson's first mayoral election campaign.
Remember then? When he use to ride a bike?£290 the pair or will split for £150 each. Unused condition.
Judging by by recent events in these unprecedented times I think he could do with a bit of support.....

Current (only) project - Omnium Cargo CXC.
New purchases are the frame and Harry Rowland "gravel" wheels, the rest will be a pragma-build using what I can from my current bike and parts bin.The CXC frame is not as heavy as I feared, but the forks certainly are. I couldn't spring for the carbon upgrade as that was half my wheel budget alas.
Can't wait to get this rolling.

well in answer to my own question Omnium Cargo's CXC bike seems to fit the bill for what I was looking for with a 74.9° seat tube angle!
https://omniumcargo.dk/omnium-cxc/
I've lusted over their MiniMax for a long while, but didn't know about the CXC.
I should have a frame arriving tomorrow.
I'm sure it will be an absolute tank in terms of weight, but I'm hopeful that having a bike that fits really well again will offset the lardyness.
Let's see... -
Getting to that time of year where I wear shorts most of the time for commuting and then continuing to wear in the workshop.
All mine are worn out and I'm a bit stuck as to where to look.
Back in the old days I'd go to a shop to try things on, feel the fabric and stitching etc.
Usually I'd buy sturdier 8quid Primark jobs to ruin at work and then something a bit nicer for other occasions. However that isn't going to work currently so as the daft title suggests I'm looking for shorts.
Chino shorts, cotton shorts whatever you want to call them. Classic shorts really.I'd like heavy cotton with good stiching in black or dark colours.
Above the knee (but not mid thigh) in a looser fit.Can anyone point me to shorts they like and experiences of them.
I'm looking at various price points, but as my ability to pay the rent has been rather curtailed I'd rather not blow the weeks food budget on a pair.
Cheers

Just taken the Omnium CXC out for shakedown ride around the park.
Still some bits to do - need to shorten the hoses and tweak the brakes, but despite it's heft it handles really nicely!
