I seem to have fixed it, some forum somewhere had some info, it's due to overheating, so I downloaded smcFanControl and upped the min CPU fan speed from 1000rpm to 2500rpm, seems to be ok so far...

You will void your warranty if Apple find this app on your machine when doing a repair. Be warned that bearings are put under more stress whilst using smc, try to get away with small adjustments, it'll probably be fine, just saying.

Could be video card/chip, LVDS cable, video port, display, etc.

You can troubleshoot to narrow it down, then work out whether you want to front the cash for a fix depending on what it is.

It's a 531 tourer (unless the seller lied and self-stickered), just converted one of these for a friend.

A 'no quibble' returns policy is all well and good, but I've always been of the opinion that if your stuff's good enough, and your quality control is rigorous enough, then a returns policy - whether no quibble or 'you'll jump through all our hoops before we'll let you return anything (bitch)' - shouldn't be necessary.

Pish posh. What happens if you're indecisive and bought the wrong thing, or it was a present from your gran, or you were the first person to encounter said problem with the product, etc?

Get a small tin of hobby paint (designed for model making and the like), better still... take your bike into the shop and match the paint to the frame there and then.

Well chuffed with this for £88: SLX fork/frame, Dura Ace crank, Mavic MA40s on Dura Ace hubs, 3TT bars/stem, Campy brakes, etc.

I'm thinking of turning it into a trick/fun bike with an eccentric hub and low gearing, or keeping it as a longer distance geared bike... any thoughts?
