Your absolutely fine. If it was the other way round you may have probs as a 9 speed chain is slightly thinner than an 8 speed one so a 9 speed chain may not fit the 8 speed jockey wheels causing it to jump off and generally be a bit shit, hence why folk are telling you to run an 8 speed chain rather than a 9 speed one on your 8 speed cassette, hope this helps and good luck with the build.

I see your point, I used to live and commute in Edinburgh and the weather wasn't always ideal but it didn't turn me into a seething monster. There are however studies done that point to a condition called [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder"]SAD[/ame]. You've probably heard of it, basically not enough natural sunlight and people get a bit crotchety and depressed. I think it affects some people more than others

Watched a program on artificial sweeteners the other week and they compared the amount of sweetener needed to replicate that of sugar in a fizzy drink and the difference was staggering. In an 8 gallon tank they needed about 10kg of sugar compared to a small bowl of sweetener (these figures may be completely wrong, just there to illustrate massive difference). They also tested brain activity when comparing sugar and sweetener and sugar triggered a "fulfillment or pleasure" receptor that the sweetener didn't, supposedly because sugar gives you energy where as sweetener doesn't.
