I would have thought that you would have been more familiar with fast estates than most of this parish.
My suggestion would be a Cadillac CTS-V - probably a bit of blunt object compared to anything European but they sound great and would be pretty rare in the UK. LHD so perfect for trips to the continent.

Shit that this has happened when you've spent so much time on building it and the damage didn't even happen when racing in anger. Still it can be repaired and maybe you can get someone to make it look less noticeable instead of going for paintwork before the season start. Still, the cars looking great and sits like a proper race B should.

I'm not familiar with what is available in terms of upgrades but I'm guessing its down the route of remap, exhaust filter?
Shame they didn't do sporty versions of the Citigo and the Mii as well but I guess VW probably made it that way to give one option for consumers to choose if they wanted a hotter version. -

Nothing too flash but my dad just got one of these. https://www.marloewatchcompany.com/collections/coniston/products/coniston-bluebird?variant=32119227088985
He's always been into the history of both Donald & Malcom Campbell's record attempts and seems pretty happy with the build quality and the fact that is came from a company based in Scotland. -
Interesting. Since seeing this I like the idea of a NB or NC MX with a k20
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qc_3fEcouec
These guys also did a review of a NB with a built engine on ITBs but to be honest, it seems like that was way more work than just sourcing a honda unit and throwing it in. -

ahh, if my memory has been jogged sufficiently, you had a really tidy, well sorted NA or NB MX5 previously; correct?
If the Boxter/MR2 don't get you going I can understand that. 944's have been dragged up with the prices of 911's going bonkers. I love MGB's/BGTs but I'd just worry that getting a nice, solid example might be hard given your budget and making a nice car out of a rough one will break your heart and your wallet. Sports and classic cars shouldnt always make sense though. If I was going for something like that I'd probably go for a Midget/Healey Sprite as I always like the size of them. Then again, a cursory glance on car and classic makes me think this > https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1283177 could be a load of fun...
Maybe I'm the person to take any advice from. -
+1 on the Biaggi Chesterfield livery. Ciggy Sponsors really had the best colour schemes and logos.
I'd echo @nefarious suggestion and go down the route of a mk3 MR2 as an alternative to an MX5. Other option could be a Boxter. I did think abut a 924 too but it seems as those most of those are now more expensive so Boxter looks like the entry level porsche now.

Yeah when I checked yesterday my old one was SORN and not mot-ed since 2010 so guessing it's tucked away somewhere. I sold it to a mate who did an Mi16 swap on it and he then sold it and bought a 1.9 on ITBs.
@TRA Yeah I've been dreaming of finding a clean 3 door base model 205 and then making it into a Rallye clone with a hot 1300cc TU engine on carbs. You're probably right about a GTi6 or306 Rallye being a more suable car. Think they are even harder to find now though. It's a shame Peugeot haven't made a good hot hatch since the 106/306 days.

Not me personally but my parents have a saloon and a traveller. The saloon hasn't moved in ages but I'm hoping that it might make a future project for me now that mini's are getting so expensive. The traveller just got a bit of love with a slightly breathed on 1275 and some extra bits and pieces. They are a really usable classic and seem to have resisted the price hikes that have hit their contemporaries.

I have often wondered if the extra weight of a V6 compared to the relative gains in performance mean that this conversion is a bit flawed but I think this is mainly to do with my idea of 6cyl lumps of yore that were heavy and a bit asthmatic. When I think of it, most modern 6cyls should be reasonably light and give a decent increase in power and torque over a 4cyl.

Yeah I think it's been done a decent amount. This was featured on speedhunters a while back and whilst it's pretty "stancey" it looks like someone has carefully considered the build and put a decent amount of time and energy into it - http://www.speedhunters.com/2019/12/brap-to-reality-the-bridgeported-13b-mx-5/
Still, even for someone with as strong a stomach as you for taking on a project, maybe a rotary is a step too far.

Very in depth. The train of thought that led me to the question was less so.
Personally I always thought that a light, high revving NA engine would probably suit best. I've had most experience with the NA platform but have seen more people doing performance builds with NB's as I guess the factor that they are slightly newer and usually a bit cheaper works in their favour.
My initial (completely non-informed) thought for a car that could do a bit of everything would be a NA base, with a tweaked 1.8 on ITBs. I do like the idea of a supercharger just to bulk everything up but have no experience with any of these things in the real world. Our 1.6 NA is standard, with new bilsteins and on old winter tyres and, although no ball of fire, is a load of fun.
Weird question but thought the hive mind might be able to give me a solid answer. My friend wants to buy a knife but they are more easily available on this side of the Atlantic. Can I buy one and send it over to him or am I breaking laws?
