Well over due an update as there's been quite a bit of change. Soma Rush has gone. We moved back from Toronto to Northumberland and theres been a few new projects.
First one was this 1999ish GT Tequesta. Always loved the triple triangle frames and thought this would make a good project. Started with a rough but original rolling bike. Stripped it down and decided to simplify it. Luckily a friend had a bunch of bits from a previous build so basically got a tried and tested transmission from him. Deore cranks with narrow wide ring, SRAM rear mech and shifter and recently built Shimano hub on Halo rim. I got a set of On One forks on sale from Planet X and a few other bits from CRC and the rest was from my parts box. The 29.6mm seat tube was a pain in the arse but went with a 27.2 post with a shim.
Really happy with the way it turned out. It rides like a big BMX. Plan for winter is to take it apart again and get the frame and forks powder coated. The current fork paint was a bit of an experiment with some Montana crackle paint. Didn't work quite as I wanted but I knew I'd probably get them painted properly as long as I liked how it rode. Also got a new set of tyres for it but thought I'd try it as is.

This is mine. No longer has the Spinergys as every time I rode it I felt like it could potentially be the last time I was able to use my own teeth. It now looks no where near as cool but has a set of Bontrager Selects on it. Last week I also found cracks in the bottom of the headtube so it's probably not long for this world.

Just realised I never responded to this in-depth analysis. Its funny but I didn't figure that the RSV was so close in age. I think in my mind I associate the Aprilia with being a much newer bike that this gen Gixxer. Nice that they have such different manners between them despite both being superbikes.
The more I read on this, the more I'd quite like to have a go at a project, more to tinker than to ride. Although both my parents rode bikes when they were younger, they've always dissuaded me from having one. My uncle however has always had at least one bike. Mainly Ducati's but he's had Blackbirds, 'Busas and an RSV Mille Factory. He's given up riding pretty much now but still has his absolutely mint 851 which will probably sit in the corner of his garage for the rest of his days.

Looks ace @jambon I've got proper garage envy. Looking forward to continued updates on the garage and the bikes.

Not sure how @johnnettles2 finds his later car but my dad's earlier ID19 isn't something that could really describe as "hustling". It is incredibly fun though and a real occasion every time you drive it.

(Weird) Hive mind question. Starting to pack our stuff up to be shipped back to UK from Canada. Can't fit the stupidly large case my speedy came in into my luggage I'm flying back with. Am I best to remove all smaller items (straps, loupe, weird paper weight, warranty cards etc) and bring back on my person and ship the box back with our other stuff or am I best to try and take the whole thing with me in my case?

I'm about to move back to the North East and the Giant Spoon is something I've never seen so knowing theres good gravel round there, it's not gone on my list of rides.
The Steamroller looks ace. Shame you've not got on with the For Shreds. They've been on my list to try for a while as I love the look of them.

Yeah I think it's just everything in that time period. Anyone who was a teenager at that time, now has enough money to realise the dream and when they go to look and find that there are less good ones left than they produced originally, it drives the price up. 90's nostalgia seems to be hitting particularly hard.
In reference to your latest update, how does the SRAD compare against something more modern like your lovely Aprilia?

Next "project" was this rough Orange Clockwork 10th Anniversary. I was super into the segmented fork and that classic orange/white paint job so I got my mate to go and look at it/buy it before we got back to Northumberland. The paint is really rough and the freehub was slipping so I replaced the rear wheel with the old back wheel that was on the GT. I replaced the cables and threw on a Velo Orange saddle that was languishing in my friends parts box. It rides pretty nicely and has become the bike I've fitted a Weeride to.
