That looks tidy. I always repair my jeans myself with an old sewing machine and the denim off cuts I keep from taking jeans up (the reality of buying selvedge denim when you have a 28" inside leg). I have a pair of Edwins that I've had for nearly 10 years that I've patched about 4 or 5 times now. I'm trying to go for the boro patchwork look and see how long I can make them last.

I do really want a Speedy but I've kind of resigned myself to the fact if I'm this cautious about spending $600ish on a watch, I'd drive myself to the brink of despair on a multiple thousand dollar watch. At the same time I feel like once I got one, I'd never have to look at another watch for the rest of my life, which in my current line of thinking, would be great for my sanity.

Thanks to you and @ChainBreaker for the photos. I knew that the Ti would mark more easily so that's confirmed how easily it will mark. How are both of your cases? I've heard that marks around the lugs where the spring bars fit can get marked pretty easily.
Of course you're correct @freddo it's more of question of whether I'd rather pay the extra to put those marks in myself. As bizarre as it sounds. I don't mind the idea of buying vintage watches with "patina" but it doesn't seem quite as desirable on something that hasn't had much wear and is only a couple of years old.

I'll mull it over. Thanks to you, @Dammit and @pdlouche for your thoughts on this question. I'm aware that I'm in danger of being that annoying forumonger that constant posts asking what he should buy and then ends up doing nothing but I do really appreciate all the advice and guidance that everyone on the watch thread gives.

I originally offered $625 after he told me that he had turned down offers of $550 but he said the minimum he would take would be $650.
I tend to over analyse big purchases like this at the best of times but part of me is thinking I don't need any more watches. Another part is saying just buy a new Ocean One in Steel and put the scratches on it yourself over time. The other part is saying stop being a fanny and just buy this one.
This is the bit I struggle with when I think about actually stumping up the big cash for what I've always actually wanted which is a Speedy which leads me to believe that I'll probably never actually get to the point where I feel like I can pull the trigger on one. I think I'm destined for a life of cheap/affordable watches. -
Thanks for the clarification. I was also under the assumption that mint is box fresh but I understand that it's very much open to interpretation by everyone. He said that for the majority of the wear he gave it, it was on a NATO which makes me even more worried about the wear rate of the titanium on these.
Nope dealing in CAD, which according to XE works out to be about $675 at the current rate.I liked the idea of a Titanium version as it takes it a bit further away from a straight Sub 'homage', especially with the straight sword hands. Now I'm second guessing myself.
This is why I can't have nice things hah. -
Apologies if this is getting boring for you lot but I'm starting to bore myself so I know it's bad.
The Ti Steinhart I found locally has got me stewing. The guy will take $650 for it. He described it as being mint and said it hadn't had a lot of wear. He sent photos through and it has quite a few scratches on the buckle. Am I being too picky or is this what most would expect for a watch that has been worn. Also, if this bugs me at this stage, am I going to be constantly pissed off with the way that titanium marks relatively easily when compared to steel?

Thanks @ChainBreaker
I'm currently weighing up my options. Unfortunately just as quickly as I can talk myself into "needing" something I can also talk my self out of it. Imagine if this was actually for an expensive watch....
I think I just need to stop fannying around and bite the bullet. -
Thanks @spunk_nautical & @JDB (do you have the Ti model or a regular Ocean One JDB?)
Anything I should look for or be aware of if I go to take a look at it? Is there much difference between the Soprad movement and the ETA movements that they have?
