If you chop the grips they go from being 'Oury' to 'Our' grips? Thereby becoming grips of the people.
I see thru your cunning commie plot!
No this is a fascist plot you have uncovered...as you have removed a letter from the RIGHT of the word OURY....if it was a communist [commie is so McCarthyist]...one would remove the O....making Ury...close to the Russian name of the Soviet hero of space travel...Yuri Gagarin!
Flickwg......thank you comrade for your help ....cheers

declare the bar end an "enemy of the people" and a "Right-Trotskyeyte wrecker", kick it out of the Politburo, hand its case over to the NKVD, have Yezhov brutalize it in prison, then have it shot, and its family sent to the Gulag. repeat un-till we reach workers utopia.
This is a Stalinist line and is unacceptable!.....workers utopia will only be achieved through democracy and respect for the individual......

What is the best way to trim a set of these grips to accept a set of bar-ends. Suggestions i have received are to use a hot knife or put the grips on the bars and then tap the handlebar on a hard surface [gently] with the grip facing downwards, thus removing the end of the grip. Are either of these good methods or is there a better way to execute this manoeuvre ? Please advise.....thanks comrades.

No.I asked and was told NO...but politely...if you want Paul drop outs then you have to go for a custom build...That is where it gets complicated and potentially more expensive. Custom build is £450 plus £19 for postage...at the moment there is such a back log of work that they are not taking any more custom builds for the moment...when they do...you MUST go up to Leeds for a measurement session...that has to be added to the cost of the frame..OFP...No need to visit Leeds! .Then there is a waiting time of AT LEAST 6 months for a custom build...however on a custom build...you can choose what tubing at added cost.....also straight or compact geometry...Paul trackends....about £35ish....OFP...631 main tubes all the rest is 525 and the forks are CrMo.....according to BJ...standard forks even if you want 953..I had the forks chromed and that added an extra 5 weeks...Hope this answers your question.....When i get my camera working...i will put a pic of my new BJ on the site.
-
My experience was very god....I always spoke to a chapcalled Darryll....nice as pie.....OTP but took 11 weeks because i had the forks chromed but they fitted my own BB free of charge. Daryll told me that for the next few months they were not doing any custom frames. Only prob with Dave Yates, Roberts, Argos etc is cost.....if you have the money c£700 and upwards....fine but BJ OFP is £345.....delivery without chrome c6 weeks......made on a proper jig to your spec [to a limited extent...1/2'' increments and a choice of mudguard eyes or not]....full range of colours and a five year guarantee.......an alternative is Steve Goff also well reknowned but in Skelmersdale near Liverpool...he got a mention in Cycling Plus frame builders article 2 months ago...can look him up on the web. But based on my experience, i would happily recommend BJ.
-
Give them a call and ask for Daryll....lovely bloke not a BLB surly type...they want a £200 deposit..and the rest before they post it to you...lovely paint job and really carefully wrapped up..tell you mine looks brilliant.....i even sent the frame builder a card to say thank you......it is not just a frame but a work of art!

Is the KMC 710SL masterlink 'safe' to use on a fixie or should it be ditched? I do not go off road or go 'brakeless' neither do i live in the urban jungle, country roads mainly with the occasional pothole.
If it is to be ditched, then what? I ask because the rivets look difficult to remove, so any suggestions on the best way to join the chain together, safely? If I need a chain tool, which one is best for this particular chain?

i would contact wiggle first ass that is where you bought it from[i assume]...as long as you have your receipt and it is within the warranty period [April so yes to that question] and you have not 'violated' the terms of the warranty....you should be entitled to a full refund....however..they will probably want you to send it back to them for checking....but they may repair it and i have a sneaking feeling that after a few months they have the choice of options.....so perhaps you might check with your council's consumer advice office or the Citizens' Advice Bureaux..But when you talk to Wiggle be friendly....till they get stroppy!....hope this helps

Be care some males on here may have high blood pressure and the sight of a shapely lady in bloomers may be just too much....be warned.
Everyone is different....it took me some time to be comfortable on a fixie......i love it.....though i am in Cambridgeshire......not so much traffic.......not so sure about riding fixed in London anymore...I found looking over my shoulder more difficult on a fixie...so i use a mirror.....might not be cool but at least it may keep you alive......being on a fixie you must peddle and peddle...stop and it is bandage time......i have had a few falls some serious....some less so...wear a helmet....i have been off work since April because of a crash ...over the handlebars...no helmet....might not have helped but then again......am i put off fixies? No!! Waiting for my new Bob Jackson......still think go flip flop start on free and when you are ready try fixed and then build up slowly......but get insurance....for you and your bike!
-
Get fixed/free flip flop so you have both.....begin with the free and when you are ready switch to the fixed but don't rush it. Get a low[ish] gear to start...maybe 65-66 easy to spin but Cliveo is right coming down a hill on fixed can be a bit scary at times especially for a newbie......It is a confidence thing.
Muscular thighs on a lady is good but keep off the steroids....then not so good!

can you expand? is it true about the three strikes?
as an ex-cab driver your probably in the best position for informing us all what the best way to act in this situation would be.
I stopped being a cab driver in 1992 but i have never heard of a 3 strikes and out rule.....each incident is taken on its merits.....I was once off the road for a week cos my cab was a bit dirty!......this is much more serious
I would a] Make a formal complaint at the Public Carriage Office in Penton Street
and b] Report the incidenct to the police......the more evidence you have the better.....witnesses and photographic evidence the better.Reember the PCO is part of Transport for London.......so contact Boris Karloff...the new mayor of crazytown.....
You could complain to the Licensed Taxi Drivers' Association....kind of a trade union for cabbies....but keen to maintain professional standards....not sure of address.
Best advice i can give.......

Just stuck some Oury grips on my bike with hairspray. I now have a large 'tin' Silverkrin firm hold hairspray....so if anyone is in the Cambridge area and wants to use some firm hold hairspray to stick or restick a set of grips or to keep their hair in place....just let me!
