the unipack is intrguing (if you meant those ready-made singlespeed bike for only £200), I don't care about the compound but is the frame any good? cause if it is good, I'd actually get it and slowly replace the part with better one, because I kinda need a bike to ride everyday after I got rid of my current fixie.
From everything I have read, my advice to anything about this bike would be NO.
I came close to getting one, when I saw it on Craiglist, but I spoke to eyebrows about it, and heard the geometry was odd, then I read the forums, and realised it's a pile of wank -

my personal favourite:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to make all cyclists take a compulsary test. make all peddle cyclists take a cycle test on simmilar grounds to car and motorcycle test, including theory and practical and then be liecenced and insured. they must also have a registration plate. also fines and endorsements for commiting a road traffic offence ,ie running a red light or riding on the FOOT PATH and having no lights is an out right ban. if they have none of the required documents then thier cycle is confiscated and crushed, They must also be held responsible for any accidents and injuries they cause due to,speed using a mobile phone etc etc. This will stop a lot of irresponsible cyclists from harming peddestrians going about thier normal days buisinessBut... But... But
I could cycle before I could read good. How could I take a test?

I only have crappy camera phone so excuse the pics. The arm is part of the hub, and bolts to the bracket:

Unfortunately i was only able to get hold of 5 from the US, and they have all found homes from people responding when i originally started this thread, However i am more than happy to ask the guy i got them off if he can get some more(i cleaned him out of all he had left) Cost worked out at 20 quid per hub including shipping. Apparently they cant make them quick enough.
I repacked it with grease before building the wheel.
I'm moving to the states in a month so if you could give me the suppliers info, it might work out cheaper if I can get one shipped to my address there. Otherwise, if you do make another order soon, I will gladly be on the list!
The sturmey Archer I am running now is great fun, but I don't really trust it.

I have now got hold of a some velosteel hubs, and have just built one up with a Mavic Open Pro 36h. . only had about a day on it so far, but i like it, it doesn't lock up unless you really want it to, so is pretty good at modulating your speed. Lovely bit of kit too, though it weighs a fair bit. The hub comes with a bracket for the frame so you can attach the clutch arm. though this isn't particularly nice, but their are loads of nice brackets out there you could use instead. The hub is very well made - great for a ss knock around bike.
Provided i am free i will bring it to westie drinks on thursday, and try and get some pics up too
If you have got hold of multiple velosteel coaster brake hubs and would be willing to sell one, I would be interested.

I might be able to source a 700c drilled chrome fork. Tell me the lengths required.
Would need to pay for forks + postage from oxford though...I know that OCW has a pair of chrome ones for 20quid-ish I think. I looked into getting them for my ride, but ended up getting a pair of carbon forks someone at the shop was flogging for a tenner.

It will be PayPal... I'm not 100% positive on how to implement it yet... I'll code it tomorrow.
Most likely is that it will be a single page on this site, that knows who you are and can show you what you ordered. It will then give you a single click button to go through to PayPal and pay.
You will need to make sure the delivery address is right in PayPal before you order... or have included the delivery address in the comments bit when you order.
Awesome. Can't wait!

I'm going to do the thing where you pay £50 and the post office comes around with lots of grey bags and you stuff them, and they take them all away.
Yeah it's £50... but carrying the better part of 300 shirts to a post office and dealing with counter staff is an experience I can live without :)
Thanks for the offer though... may take you up on the stuffing part.
Hey VB,
How are you going to want those of us who are not collecting in person to pay and give you our mailing addresses? paypal?
Thanks

Maybe they have changed it, but when I was at the shop last night the news was that the charity alleycat was at noon, followed by the party at the shop from 1pm. Maybe there is another 'true' alleycat in the evening.
Oh and don't forget the awesome free prizes for those in good costumes and those who win the race.
My bike is all finished, so am pumped for Saturday.

I like these Nike ones
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=21663
Thinking about getting a pair, so can't give any feedback about wearability, but they look better than most of the shoes with cleats.

Did you ride the wheel afterwards? I imagine reusing the spokes is a bit iffy.
