just built up the rear wheel for the trike.
Sturmey archer xl-rd5 to a sun double track (doubt thats been done before!) with a schwalbe big apple.
comes in at a weight weenie 3.6kg, and thats without sprocket, tape, tubes and air. Quite a mean looking set up, pretty sure it'll take quite a bit of weight.

well done you lot, now solve these

But re-reading, i don't think i've answered your actual question.
actually same here. the factorial formula is for no repeats in the AAA sense when we need the ABC = BCA case. I'm to tired to work this out at the mo so maybe I'll do it tomorrow when I'm supposed to be doing PhD maths.
oooh maybe cyclic permutations of ABC are the same but CBA is different???????
linear algebra applied to pizza, galios would be happy!

you need to sum up the number of different combination for each number of toppings.
the number of topping combination's without repeats for 1 topping out of n
+
the number of topping combination's without repeats for 2 toppings out of n
+
.
.
.
.
+
the number of topping combination's without repeats for m toppings out of nthis will be the answer.
\sum{1}{k=m}\frac{n!}{(n-k)!n^{k}}
in tex speak. where n is number of ingredients and m is number of ingredients allowed to make up each topping.

I've heard a second hand report of a bike crushed under the front of a bendy bus in peckham this morning. It was opposite the library where the busses join the high street by subway and crackerjack.
Has anyone heard any more info? the guy I spoke to just saw the bike and no ambulances so hopefully noone was hurt.

Can't promise it's the right one though.
ah cheers for that, will give them a call tomorrow.

does anyone know where i can get a replacement mounting bolt for a dual pivot caliper? I've got a pair of tektro brakes which are nut fitting. One of the bolts is very long, probably for the front brake. I need the other brake to have a bolt of similar length.
I've found this
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tektro-tektro-shimano-pattern-70-mm-dual-pivot-brake-bolt-cr-mo-for-nut-conversion-prod24266/
but I'm unsure if it's the right thing and they seem to be out of stock. The trike frame has now been drilled and filed to mount the wheels and brakes (well one at least due to bolt issues). will put mudguards on tomorrow evening and take some pictures.

If you really believe that, you need to go back to tricycle school. How do you think Morgan drivers get the back end swinging around if there is no side load on the rear wheel? I'd go for a Nimbus, on the grounds of being cheap and wide enough to support a 50mm Big Apple properly on something which doesn't lean.
Edit: Just seen a Christiana style trike with a Big Apple on the back, took a good look at the rim (as good as you can in traffic, anyway) and it looked to be 35-40mm wide.
ah yes get you now, my engineer sense is ashamed. Though the rear end does lean a little on turning - the pivot with the front is angled forward. Will get these rims, cheers!

For which tyre? For a trike, which puts big side loads on the tyre, I'd err on the side of wider rims.
For the single wheel at the back - no side loads - the same mounting as a conventional rear wheel. The tyre will be a big apple 24"x2" which is a 507-50 in real dimensions. I can only find a no-name rim from sjs that isnt dh or bmx cruiser specific. Most of these seem to be wider than I'd like and quite heavy. Am I looking in the wrong place?

trike is slowly coming together. here is the frame from christiania

I need to build a 24" rear wheel for it. I've settled for this hub
http://www.sturmey-archer.com/products/hubs/cid/4/id/33courtesy of the old bike trader who I can not recommend enough. can anyone recomend a rim? can mostly just find dh rims which seem a bit overkill.
I've had the base of the trailer modified by my friendly local steel fabricators. The original frame was just square. I've had more supports for the frame attachment added. Also the wheels need to be lowered by 5cm and there needs to be mounts for the brakes. The stubby sticky out bits do all this.

next step is drilling and filing to get it all to fit together. just need some spare time!

oh and I've been getting better at the bread baking recently. made some love rye bread last night, a little underdone to be honest but not too dense.
anyone else getting on the bread? I've got a sourdough starter brewing away in the kitchen at the moment. made a couple of loafs from it but the cold weather has made it a bit temperamental. last loaf took over 24 hours to rise which was a bit of an arse. planning a pizza party for tuesday, might risk making sourdough bases, but a little worried it might go propper tits up.

played with a band once with two bassists, one of which had an aluminium bodied 335 with a steel kramer neck. one hell of a powerfull bass. tad clangy though.
think the band was called "songs from the shows" and I think they've split up.
actually I think he may be on basschat.co.uk as "dangerboy" if you want to find out how he made it.

thinking of getting this, looks the part.
