I was recently talking to someone who told me that he had been cycling home to somewhere east of the City late one evening when he had been struck from his bike by two guys weilding a baseball bat.

He now has a titanium plate in his head (presumably more expensive than aluminium but cheaper than carbon) but was lucky because someone saw it happening and chased off the assailants and called for help. He was wearing a helmet.

He is back cycling.

A couple of days ago, I was in a cab going through Central Park in New York (65th Street) when I saw a Ghost Bike by the road. It made quite an impression. I hope that they make similar impressions on drivers.
