+1 unless you regularly ride 40-50 miles fixed (at a decent pace) or if you found yourself in the gruppetto on the last ride then bring gears if you have them
I don't. I wasn't. And I haven't. Balls.
Anyone got any suggestions regarding loops/routes that might be good training for this? I won't be getting a geared bike any time soon so I may as well get training and make the most of the fix! One day I'll make the Surrey Hills. One day...

I no haz geres.

@wools and tika - if it's your first time doing this ride and you have the option of riding geared then I'd recommend you take that option. None of the hills are horribly steep but a couple of them are fairly long and can be a real grunt on fixed. Riding gears will give you more options to ease those aching legs.

What the hell happened over the last coupla pages? Clusterfuck!
I might start a Gentle Evening Rides thread where there will be No Racing, come along to one, and we will ride inclusively, together. It will be sociable, not a mad dash. Serious comment. Any thoughts, anyone?
Seeing as it was you and I at the back for most of the ride it'd be silly to not put my name down. :P

Shotgun!
That is seriously awesome. I'm so so jealous. Is it going to be used for the track only or you going to use it on the road as well? Seriously rad. When's it gonna be finished? Want!

Does that mean your bike is faster because it's purple? I thought red was supposed to look fast. Like Ferraris. :P
