sorry for the pause in proceedings guys, not been trying to keep people hanging but been nipping in and out today...
okay thanks for kind offer BMMF but looking for silver and 1/8 so hamster welcome to step in.
pj (pj) not been trying to mess you around, just thinking hard at the moment about costs and maybe would appreciate a chat at Monday drinks - for now not to cause ruction Tommy if you are ready for that chainring you did claim it first.
Marxist_fixie seem like he has the ideal chainring at the moment for my beater's existing cranks so I think I'll talk details with you dude.
Thanks all, most kind and helpful.

I have worn ties less than most, and always grudgingly. I have had to wear one at times as a cheese-eating demonstration of my need to pay rent.
For me the tie doesn't suggest an arrow to one's cock, rather the sarcastic tease of a hangman's noose.
I learned the windsor back in the early naughties, as an ironic response to a long-term office-dress ball-ache.
I believe I have to wear a tie tomorrow. So I'm just dusting off the few I have, trying to work out which one least says, "I haven't bought a tie for some time."

Sammy if it's any consolation there was a sense that it was turning into one of the lamest threads of all time very early on and we have been taking the piss out of it with some of the lamest humour of all time - sorry if you got far enough to post something..
..asm I told you you should have left it well alone... look what's happened now, someone's got miffed..
this thread is officially closed...thank you and gut evening...

Hey!! how's about this? instead of a sign saying "Golf Sale " I could give you one saying "Thief" and then when I come and and the bike's gone you could just forlornly point the arrow in the direction he went. Oh, man!! That would be so cool, like Marcel Marceau..!
Okay going for a long bike ride now.

very cruel of you asm, very cruel. I checked in today and was relieved to see this thread nestling snuggly down the page, 15 hours after Mister K had also commented on weirdness. Then it gets brought to the top so even more people can go "WTF"....
I could stretch to two pound sixty. I'll throw in a sign to the nearest golf shop.

can you tie a windsor knot, phil?
I can't. but then I never wear a tie..
Half-windsor, yes. The windsor is in theory elegant but requires too much tie to achieve discreetly. A contemporary example of the pitfalls of attempting this most solacious of knots is best illustrated by sportsmen at prizegivings and young working men at weddings.
The half windsor affords a more satisfying knot - and pinch - while retaining sufficient length not to require a waistcoat.

I do know - that Tommy. I think I need a pause in the process here though - know you want to sell them and not bowing out yet but maybe I should try and work with the crank on my beater.. I'm thinking about the bottom bracket too - the costs are mounting for what was ostensibly supposed to be a cheap alternative and for my nice build (currently up on bricks, not the Raleigh) I need a bb for sure among about another 250 quid's worth of stuff..
How much did you have on the chainring orgininally?

yeah the first two definitley aren't the ones I'm trying to get hold of, they're awful.
The last ones may just be photographing nicely, not sure, but still fairly certain they're bagged in with in the others.
I was rather young so memory may be playing tricks, but they were gorgeous to look at and to hold and the grip strangely enough seemed to have the texture of the underside of a mushroom.

re the tagging and flaming: this is dumb. There are fixed riders who buy from these shops who aren't on this forum; there are also loads of us on here who'd never dream of banging on about someone so vindictively and explicitly. This shit starts making it look like the whole "community" is a bunch of shitstirrers and the bike shops that we rely on to go to for parts and juicy slave bling will view us warily at best and as demanding, arrogant cunts at worst.. great for those of us who already have a shop they have built up a relationship with but for newer guys still building (I include myself) an obstacle to be overcome where none should exist.
I can't believe a guy has been mentioned by name on here and had pretty much a thread devoted to ruining his reputation (the bad comments always carry for more weight than the good ones). He must be either mortified or thinking "fuck this whole shit". Come on guys does anyone love to feel like that?

@winston and RPM: er....obviously I'm not getting the right idea about ff spacing measurements here.
