if you are in London join me (us) for training sessions after christmas starting in richmond park with the fireflies, later heading for some hills to add a little bit of interest and endurance (surrey hills, north downs and chilterns) and perhaps some cyclocross in too..
also treat the 260km sportive as one long training session when it comes.. it'll be an epic ride for sure, but it is mostly psychological, just need to keep a small squad of riders going for support and moral.. band of brothers mentality..
we'll organise pitstops / foodstops in there too, to keep spirits up, planning to ride among the Sky Velo team with a few fireflies.. get beered up on sunday, mega hangover monday.. return back to blighty god-like..
cheers Al
Kind of you to offer Al, you sound like a man with a plan. I appreciate your encouraging words too. Id have been happy to meet up for some miles but I'm in Scotland. I have been cyclo x-ing but the season up here is very short, finishes mid December.
Distinct lack of road miles and motivation at the minute, once the snow has abated I will start racking them miles up.

If they are not waterproof then I doubt I'll bother- may as well keep on with the neoprene shoe covers.
Its not so much that those particular boots arent waterproof, no shoe/boot is waterproof, let down, as it is, buy the large hole on each one. The water running down your legs inevitably seeps into your footwear. Its all about staving off the inevitable, gore tex boots, water repellant overshoes with stealth tights zipped up over the overshoe will keep the worst of it at bay for the longest time.
This is overkill though imo. I have those Northwave mtb boots for winter, I live in Scotland ITS FUCKING FREEZING here in winter at times and I suffer dreadfully from the cold toes. Those Sidi heated insoles are are uselsess as well, I have a pair gathering dust right now. Anyway, on a parky day I prescribe, Northwave boots, with woolie boolie socks and a chemical toe warmer strategically stuck at the toe section of your insoles, win.

Unsure if 'win' or 'fail' but whilst on the very last section of a charity cycle ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh last Sunday two young kids heckled our party as we cycled past. The two kids racing along beside us, the kid in front, so busy was he laughing and hurling abuse in our general direction he failed to notice the kerb fast approaching. He smashed into it, his speed unchecked, in one fell swoop no part of his body was in contact with his bike,he performed a save though hence win or fail. Undecided, after a long day it made me roar with the laughter. Funnier even than if he had stacked. Excellent.

by the way i don't understand why nobody has grabbed this. I would call this a steal.
I dont understand why myself. Its got great kit on it and its in timewarp condition. I really do not want to break it. It seems like sacrilege. I would prefer someone else did that.
Lovely bike, Merak.
Ah, thanks Scot lady :)

No, in my experience SKS are fit and forget. If you make sure the clearance is uniform at set up, ie no having the clearance fag paper width from the tyre then you should be right. Any adjustments I have had to make are via gentle manipulation of the stay's.
