My sincere condolences go to any one who has lost a loved one who was riding their bike.
I find the ghost bike thing to be in bad taste. Even the term ghost bike I find inappropriate. If memorials were left everywhere for folk that die there would me no room to move. What about runners, car drivers, motorcyclists that are killed through no fault of their own? Its trite in my opinion.

both my hands and feet are freezing cold from riding this morning for under half an hour. what liners are available for gloves and are they worth having? silk or merino?
a fellow forumenger has suggested that nothing will protect your extremites in very cold weather, is that the case?
Yes and no really. I suffer terribly from cold fingers and toes. I suggest Merino liner gloves under insulated mitts. It works for me in waves, cold then hot continuously. You have fuck all dexterity but its better than being freezing.
When it comes to toes then I think its Sidi foot warmers. I wear wooly warma socks and neoprene over shoes but if its below freezing Im still going to suffer.

Are you serious.Giving instructions on how to change a tire, you must be well envied by your fellow forum buddies.Any chance that you could give me a little advice on how to adjust my saddle height. Can I get one of those what a cunt decals please.anybody
Whats the deal? Why are you being so grumpy? I think someone needs a hug!

I may be able to get hold of a bunch of Retro/used cycle jerseys,
So i am wondering if there would be any interest in them here? not sure what the cost of them would be yet but i am thinking from around £10 - 40 ish depending on age / style / condition etc.
i know its vague but i am just wondering what people think as to whether or not there would be any interest.
Ta Casp.

I spiked a co workers cup of tomato soup with 8 laxative pills, this was a few months ago. The next day he came into work saying he was up all night on the throne. He sharted whilst he was talking to me and had to put his keks in the bin and go commando for the rest of the day. I have not told him it was me, he was being a right cunt at the time and in my mind, deserved it.
-
Im not acting the cunt. I seldom let my knees out on their own:) I wear bib tights every day. I wear knee warmers throughout summer.
You are correct, it may not be no float, I thought it might have something to do with it though.
It may well be I am pre disposed to arthritis they click like fuck until they are warm. I wasnt having a go, its all good in the hood, much love hippy!:) -
I know a lot of cyclists that have broken collarbones.
It's a bit of a stretch blaming knee pain on your pedal system when cyclist's knees get caned through normal use and any number of factors might be at work here. Not that much of a stretch. A young person, still growing uses a pedal locking system with no lateral float to anchor their feet/knees in a static position whilst exerting all sorts of forces on these areas. Over a period of years, damage may occur. I dont know any cyclists with broken collarbones.

I have been riding clip less for 20 years. I used the first incarnation of Look pedals which had no float. My knees are fucked, click like crazy until they warm up. They are stiff from idle to movement. It may be arthritis but I think this has alot to do with clip less pedals, it would be naive of me to think this wasn't the case. I use pedals/cleats with float now, have done for a while but the damage was done long ago.
Im pretty sure alot of people the wrong side of 30 have similar problems. I know alot of cyclists that have dodgy knees.

same here 6'1'' 150Ibs climbing hills is easy but I have to eat even on a 30 mile run metabolism like a runaway train
i think that genetics are a major factor in all thisThey do, but your not trying hard enough!I am 5'11 75kg but if I cane the lager, and eat really badly I can put weight on no problem. I am like a racing snake:)

My tuppence worth. Its all about weight, I have an aluminum winter bike thats adorned with all sorts of gubbins that make it heavier than an anvil.
Its a struggle on a climb of say 2k or more. I also have a boutique carbon bike/carbon hoops which is a revelation, makes me feel like a climber, I am not a climber.I also have a titanium road bike which is similar in that it weighs hee haw.
Point is light bikes make things alot easier because they are lighter. However if you are 15 stone my theory is fucked:)
So yes a more expensive bike makes a difference going uphill because its lighter.

Tom, that is a dreadful analogy to use.
In WW 2 people fought and died for the freedoms you and I enjoy today, sounds cheesy but its true, respect fail.
A granite plinth to commemorate the loss of hundreds of lives who died for a just cause is a worthy memorial imo.
And lets be realistic a shitty bike painted all white isn't going to save any ones life is it?
The point is in my opinion its a tactless and fruitless exercise which is trite and corny if I buy it on the road on my bike or otherwise I don't want such a gauche memorial or any at all for that matter.
You take your chances on the road. If you don't like it get the bus.
