I'm not sure about the benefits of stripping a saddle. I did strip an SLR in the past but I found it rather 'solid'
Recently, I contacted Charge to register my disdain at the stitching that runs atop the Spoon and Knife saddles. The Spoon is a real favourite of mine but I have also found that the stitching will devour clothing, showing a particular fondness for Assos winter tights. If I wasn't so precious I wouldn't mind, but but I am, so I do.
So anyway, I was drawn to the Spoon because it shares a similar profile to the original, and very comfy Selle Italia Flite. I suspect this was no
mistake and rightly so as it seems to fit most people most of the
time. The Spoon is close to being the perfect perch save for that damn
stitching.I asked if there any plans to issue the Spoon sans the offending
embroidery? Just a totally smooth saddle, in leather with titanium
rails in various colour options.I rather thought this would be a winner but, no.
The kind man at Charge was quick to reply;
''*Hi,
Sorry to hear about the chaffing. We run this theme on our other saddles too such as the Knife and Pan. To date we have only had a few people with the same experience as you (one on Singletrack forum the other day). This is normally made worse by the grit in mud at this time of year which would cause issues with smooth saddles too.* *
The stitching does many things, provide grip in the wet/ sweat, allow the top section to be stretchy yet comfortable by providing support at the sides and making it flex uniformly, and lastly to add a bit of style.* *
The outer stitching is purely aesthetic and you could try removing it to prevent the chaff, the real stitching is inside and will not come undone.* *
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences and it I hope you don't get rid of them all yet.* *
Regards,* ''
I do like my Charge Ti Spoon, but I would love one with no stitching.
Using Aliante's now. They are great but no leather which wears so well, not a fan of Microtex.
I feel a bit moany tonite, sorry.

I realise this might be bad form but Id like to bring crisps into this, particularly Ringo's. Unfortunately the re released version are not a patch on the originals. crestfallen
Im happy enough with Beef Monster Munch tho'
Also Brannigans of any flavour are guaranteed winners imo.
Incidentally, chocolate wise, Golden Cup.
Thanks.

Can anyone help with the fit of the Cross Jersey (L/S) please?
Just how fitted is 'fitted'? I'm usually a medium and the sizing guide suggests a medium but I don't want it to be too... avant garde.
Will going up a size be too long in the arms and body?
Thanks!
Johnny,
I got a large which fits 'true' 38-40 chest. Its a tailored fit for sure, not big at all.
I really don't think a large will be too long for you.

I'm hoping on seeing a drop to £600 in March, that'll be 2 year NCB and down from £1200 2010.
Ooof! I recall paying something roundabout the same figure for TPF&T cover on a Clio 16v back in the day. Loved that car, had a Williams after that......10 years later I drive a Clio 1.2 :(
miss the power but not the bills

No the profile of the gloves is very thin. I think therein lies the problem! I had hoped that the properties of the merino would benefit me in the same way as my Endura Baa Baa base's which are great.
Reynauds has alot to do with it, although this winter has been mild compared to last years ice fest.
I did get some Marmot gaunlet's which are nice with the lower profile liners and some disposable hand warmers.
For really cold stuff any non bike specific glove works well, just not well enough for my bloodless digits!

Confession time
During last years edition of the Ronde sportive, the big one mind. I hid behind several MTB's on the bleak flat sections. It never entered my mind to give them 'a spell' I selfishly used them as wind breaks all the while on my plastic fantastic road bike while they were knocking out 18-20 mph on full sus mud pluggers.
Respect indeed.

The sad thing about the Owners' Club meets, of which I've been to too many already, is that there's never a Gilbern in the carpark. Ever.
You need to get one together put together from your three donors! Nice father and son project, no? Then you can lord it over the Gilbern massive at the owners meets.:)

Never worn.
Size 38-40 chest but definitely one for the racing snake.
