They are both busy and understaffed, bless em. But yeah, they are closed wednesday. Just had my bike delivered after 9 months, that was a custom frame. But an off the peg frame (still handbuilt but using a regular jig) takes loads less time, about 3 months.

Was made up a couple of weeks ago when my company sent me on a 2 day training course to Leeds. We finished early on the first day and I thought ' Great , Bob Jacksons here I come' I never really go to the North of England so it was a great chance. DUH ! then I realised it was Wednesday and they are closed, was damn sick! And they were only 1 stop away on the train, gutted!

Before i start getting into my SS build i wanted to see if i could handle it fitness wise, the bike would have been for my commute to work, but sadly after borrowing a mates bike for a couple of days i found that i had seriously under estimated the effort it took/takes to climb the what i thought were slopes and not hills on my way back home.

The next best thing for me i think until i'm fitter is a 3 speed, so question is can you build a 3 speed hub into any rim as long as it has 36 holes (which the 3 speed hub has) or are you limited to your rim selection.

I started 3 years ago on a massive 27 gear hybrid, after a while I thought' I dont use most of these gears' then went down to a 12 gear racer, thought the same thing again and went down to 6 speed, only really used 3 of them . so went to SS, of course it then follows you go to fixed. Been riding that for a month, each day am getting a bit stronger. It takes time but the more you ride the easier it gets. If I can do it at 45 I'm sure you can too.

Friday on the way home from work crossed a set of lights at the top of Royal College St when a guy and asian girl ran the red light going the opposing direction. He on a yellow fixed, cycling hat, she on a fixed/ss I think. Deep in conversation.

What about royal parks teams, say one in Hyde Park and one in Regents Park. Each team rides to the others park, locates their flag, steals it and returns to their own? Could shoot each other with water pistols along the way, rather like paintball.

Suppose I'm just venting, So bear with me. But, WTF!!!! I sent my bike out to be resprayed and it came back not looking anything like the colour that I had picked? I looked carefully at the colour swatches and made a specific choice (Cobalt blue) But it came back almost Navy blue! It's a really dark blue and doenst look anything like what I chose. Saying all of that, the dark blue isn't horrible but it's not what I paid a lot of money for. Complaining and trying to send back a respray just doesnt sound that easy or practical. I guess I'll just bend over and take this one :( Sigh Ah well.

Who sprayed it then? How much did they charge?

Are any of you familiar with the route from East London to Southend?
My boss wants to do a sponsered ride, the whole dept taking part. He's a born again cyclist since his doc told him to loose 4 stone or die by the time he is 50 years old. Is it manageable on fixed/ss ? I am thinking that as the route would follow the Thames closley it wouldnt be too hilly because of the flood plains either side of the river? But I could be wrong. Just don't want to make any more of a cock of myself than I already look at work.

What about if we all had riding crops and rode passed each other and whipped each others asses instead of just 'tag' ? Or is that a bit pervy?

Ahhh berlin....spent many a happy long weekend there visiting my GF at the time. Must have gone there 30 times while we were together. Not sure where you are but at work we use Mico Signs in Kentish Town, they are only a small firm but but really put their heart into the job, quite reasonably priced too.

What about all the Bxastard motorists using mobile phones or stopping in the centre of yellow box junctions, when do they get their tickets! Could you photograph motorists and their number plates on the phone at busy road junctions or wherever and then give the evidence to the police? I wonder if they would do anything?

I think they should build some sort of system into vehicles that if you sound your horn for more than 5 seconds all the doors fall off like a clowns car.
