you can still report it - if it was on a busy enough bit of road there may be CCTV - mine was on clerkenwell road, so there was stacks, which proved to be the evidence needed.
I know it's a pain in the arse, but it's good to do it, even for your own peace of mind. i was furious after it happened (the cabbie hit me, gave me the fingers and drove off) but even reporting it made me feel better. And, i have the feeling that maybe he won't drive like a dick and endanger other cyclists quite so readily.

If you want to report it you need to collect a form, within 24 hours, from your local police station. i reported a shunt with a cab just before christmas and got a letter saying he's been cautioned with driving without due care. it hopefully means he'll take more care driving around cyclists and if he continues to drive in the ridiculous manner that he did, he's one step closer to losing his licence.
